Job Description
We are hiring an experienced Scrap Operations Supervisor who can handle scrap buying, selling, supplier management, and protect company margins.

Role Definition:
Scrap Operations Supervisor is responsible for driving profitable scrap procurement, maintaining supplier and buyer relationships, protecting operational margins, ensuring inventory integrity, and expanding the business network while maintaining strict ethical and compliance standards.
The executive is responsible for:
- Monthly gross margin
- Supplier development
- Buyer rate negotiation
- Stock liquidation strategy
- Reducing waste & pilferage
Tasks & Activities:
Procurement
· Source scrap from kabadiwalas, factories, demolitions, traders
· Expand supplier base continuously
· Maintain supplier payment discipline
Buyer Relationship Management
· Negotiate best selling rates
· Avoid dependency on single buyer
· Build backup buyer pipeline
Pricing & Margin Protection
· Set daily buy price bands
· Protect minimum target margin (define %)
Grade accuracy & Sorting Control
· Ensure proper segregation
· Prevent mixed grade dispatch
Negotiation & Risk Management
· Negotiate supplier purchase rates and payment terms while protecting margins.
· Negotiate buyer selling rates, delivery terms, rejection clauses, and settlement timelines.
· Identify and prevent common fraud risks:
o grade mixing, moisture/impurity loading, under/over weighing, side selling, and “commission culture”.
· Define approval limits and escalation rules (e.g., high-value deals need Ops Head/Owner approval).
· Handle disputes (grade rejection, shortage claims, rate mismatch) and close them with documentation.
Inventory & Loss Prevention
· Maintain daily inward/outward/closing stock register
· Monitor stock ageing and recommend liquidation strategy
· Conduct random physical verification
· Approve dispatch quantities with grade confirmation
Market Intelligence
· Daily rate intelligence
· Weekly competitor mapping
Compliance & Documentation
· GST invoice verification
· E-way bill coordination
Ethical Conduct & Transparancy
· Zero commission acceptance
· Mandatory disclosure of conflicts
Business Network Growth:
· Maintain and grow a verified contact database of:
o suppliers (kabadiwalas, factories, demolitions, traders)
o buyers (rolling mills, foundries, recyclers, large aggregators)
· Onboard new relationships proactively
· Build backup buyers to reduce dependency risk
· Conduct periodic visits/meetings with high-value suppliers and buyers to deepen trust and increase volume.
· Track relationship health (payment behavior, quality issues, rejection rates, repeat volumes
Reporting & Review
- Submit daily procurement & rate report
- Submit weekly margin report
- Submit monthly supplier & buyer growth report
- Participate in monthly performance review with business owner
