Job Title

Master Data Management (MDM) Support Analyst

Job Purpose

The Master Data Management (MDM) Support Analyst is responsible for maintaining and supporting enterprise master data using SAP and an MDM tool. The role focuses on defining a governance mechanism, ensuring data accuracy, compliance with business rules and smooth execution of master data workflows across various domains. The position also supports system enhancements, data governance, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Master Data Operations

• Perform creation, change, and extension across master data domains (namely Material, Customer etc.) using the designated MDM tool integrated with SAP.
• Ensure all master data requests follow defined workflows, approval processes and governance standards.
• Validate master data against defined business rules, mandatory fields and data quality checks before approval or submission.

SAP & MDM Tool Usage

• Act as an end user and functional support for the MDM tool in coordination with SAP (SAP ECC / S4 HANA).
• Understand the interaction between SAP master data objects and the MDM tool to avoid inconsistencies and duplicates.
• Monitor and resolve data discrepancies between SAP and the MDM system, ensuring data synchronization and integrity.

Data Quality & Governance

• Support data validation rules, duplicate checks and standardization activities across master data domains.
• Follow defined data governance policies, naming conventions and validation rules as approved by the organization.
• Assist in periodic data audits and cleansing activities to improve data accuracy and completeness.

Business Support & Enhancements

• Provide day-to-day functional support to business users for master data-related issues and queries.
• Coordinate with IT, SAP functional teams and MDM tool vendors for enhancements, workflow changes and updates.
• Support testing, user acceptance testing (UAT) and post‑deployment validation for MDM and SAP-related enhancements.

Documentation & Process Compliance

• Maintain process documentation, user guides and SOPs related to MDM and SAP master data processes.
• Ensure adherence to approved AS‑IS and TO‑BE master data processes and escalation procedures.

Required Skills & Knowledge

• Good working knowledge of SAP Master Data domains namely Materials, Customer, Vendor master concepts.
• Basic understanding and hands-on experience with SAP ECC and/or SAP S/4HANA.
• Familiarity with Master Data Management (MDM) tools and workflow-based data governance.
• Understanding of business rules, validations, approval workflows and data quality principles.
• Ability to analyze master data issues and coordinate resolution with cross‑functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience working in MDM governance, ERP support or data quality roles.
• Exposure to tools such as SAP MDG or third‑party MDM solutions is an added advantage.
• Good communication skills to interact with business users, IT teams and external vendors.
