The Information Technology group delivers secure, reliable technology solutions that enable DTCC to be the trusted infrastructure of the global capital markets. The team delivers high-quality information through activities that include development of essential, building infrastructure capabilities to meet client needs and implementing data standards and governance.

Pay and Benefits:

  • Comprehensive health and life insurance and well-being benefits, based on location
  • Pension / Retirement benefits
  • Paid Time Off and Personal/Family Care, and other leaves of absence when needed to support your physical, financial, and emotional well-being.
  • DTCC offers a flexible/hybrid model of 3 days onsite and 2 days remote (onsite Tuesdays, Wednesdays and a third day unique to each team or employee).

The Impact you will have in this role:

We are seeking a seasoned Associate Director – Technology Lead to provide hands‑on engineering leadership and delivery oversight across Appian (Low‑Code BPM), Talend (Data Integration), and SQL‑based data platforms. This role is critical to improving release predictability, production stability, and engineering quality across globally distributed teams.

The successful candidate will combine deep technical foundations with exceptional leadership, delivery discipline, and stakeholder management. This role is accountable not only for what we build, but how reliably and sustainably we deliver enterprise-grade solutions.

This is a leadership role for someone who can set standards, enforce rigor, coach teams, and partner with business and technology stakeholders to ensure scalable, resilient, and high-quality outcomes.

Your Primary Responsibilities:

Technology & Engineering Leadership

  • Provide clear technical vision and strategic direction across Appian, Talend, and SQL-based platforms.
  • Establish and enforce solution architecture standards, reusable patterns, and engineering best practices.
  • Serve as the senior technical authority, reviewing designs and challenging solutions that introduce delivery, scalability, or operational risk.
  • Drive consistent adoption of enterprise engineering principles, including modularity, reusability, performance, and security-by-design.

Delivery Excellence & Operational Rigor

  • Own end‑to‑end delivery accountability, from solution design through development, testing, release, and production stabilization.
  • Address historical delivery issues by strengthening release readiness, defect prevention, and root-cause remediation practices.
  • Implement and govern SDLC controls, including design reviews, code quality standards, testing expectations, and production readiness criteria.
  • Actively manage delivery risk, dependencies, and cross-team coordination, particularly across globally distributed teams.
  • Ensure predictable delivery through strong planning discipline, execution tracking, and escalation management.

Quality, Stability & Continuous Improvement

  • Drive a quality-first culture, prioritizing defect prevention over detection.
  • Partner with QA and DevOps teams to improve test automation, CI/CD maturity, deployment reliability, and rollback strategies.
  • Analyze production issues and missed delivery commitments to identify systemic gaps and implement sustainable corrective actions.
  • Define and track engineering metrics (e.g., defect leakage, release stability, cycle time) to continuously improve delivery performance.

Platform & Domain Leadership

  • Lead and mentor multi-disciplinary, global engineering teams, including:
    • Appian BPM developers
    • Talend data integration engineers
    • SQL / data engineers
  • Provide technical leadership for:
    • Appian-based workflow, BPM, and low‑code solutions
    • Talend ETL / ELT pipelines and data integration architecture
    • SQL data modeling, performance tuning, and optimization for enterprise workloads
  • Ensure platform solutions are scalable, supportable, and aligned with enterprise data and integration standards.

People Leadership & Talent Development

  • Build and lead high-performing engineering teams through coaching, performance management, and career development.
  • Set clear expectations for accountability, ownership, and engineering excellence.
  • Identify skill gaps and drive targeted upskilling across architecture, quality, and modern delivery practices.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, transparency, and continuous learning across geographies and functions.

Stakeholder & Enterprise Engagement

  • Act as a trusted technology partner to product owners, business leaders, architects, and platform teams.
  • Translate business objectives into practical, scalable technology solutions with clear delivery commitments.
  • Provide concise, executive-ready communication on delivery status, risks, and mitigation strategies.

Qualifications:

  • 12–15 years of technology experience, with 5+ years in senior leadership roles overseeing enterprise delivery.
  • Proven success leading cross-functional, globally distributed engineering teams.
  • Experience in large enterprise or financial services environments, with an appreciation for regulatory, risk, and operational controls

Talents Needed for Success:

  • Strong, hands-on experience with Appian BPM architecture and low-code development (L2 or L3 certification strongly preferred).
  • Appian L2 or L3 certification preferred.
  • Advanced expertise in SQL databases, including data modeling, performance tuning, data lineage, and governance considerations.
  • Proven experience producing HLDs and LLDs, and leading complex system and data integrations.
  • Solid understanding of APIs, microservices, and SaaS-based integrations.
  • Demonstrated experience with Talend or equivalent ETL/data integration platforms.
  • Practical experience implementing DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automation across enterprise platforms.
