Fabrication Specialist

Key Responsibilities

1. Fabrication Activities

• Fabricate spiral staircases, straight staircases, helical staircases, handrails, balustrades, and structural components as per approved drawings.
• Perform cutting, grinding, fitting, assembly, and finishing of metal components.
• Ensure dimensional accuracy during fabrication.
• Carry out marking, layout preparation, and fit-up activities.

2. Drawing Interpretation

• Read and understand fabrication drawings, shop drawings, and GA drawings.
• Interpret dimensions, tolerances, and fabrication details accurately.
• Coordinate with the design department regarding drawing clarifications.

3. Material Handling

• Verify material specifications before fabrication.
• Optimize material usage to minimize wastage.
• Report material shortages and quality issues to the supervisor.

4. Quality Control

• Ensure fabricated products meet company quality standards.
• Check alignment, dimensions, welding preparation, and assembly quality.
• Rectify fabrication defects identified during inspection.

5. Team Coordination

• Guide junior fabricators, fitters, and helpers.
• Coordinate with welding, grinding, painting, and dispatch teams.
• Maintain smooth workflow and productivity within the fabrication shop.

6. Safety & Housekeeping

• Follow all workshop safety regulations.
• Use PPE (Helmet, Gloves, Safety Shoes, Goggles, etc.) at all times.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area.
• Report unsafe conditions immediately.

Technical Skills Required

• Excellent knowledge of MS, SS, and structural steel fabrication.
• Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings.
• Experience in staircase fabrication and assembly.
• Knowledge of welding preparations and fit-up standards.
• Familiarity with fabrication tools and machinery:
• Cutting Machines
• Grinding Machines
• Drilling Machines
• Band Saw Machines
• Gas Cutting Equipment
• Hand Tools & Measuring Instruments
• Knowledge of material estimation and cutting plans.

Required Qualifications

• ITI Fitter / Fabricator / Welder preferred.
• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering is an added advantage.
• 5–8 years of experience in metal fabrication.
• Experience in staircase manufacturing industry preferred.
