Job Summary

The FTTH Survey Engineer is responsible for conducting field surveys for Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) network deployment projects. The role involves collecting field data, identifying feasible fiber routes, validating ODC/Joint locations, assessing infrastructure availability, and preparing survey reports to support network planning, design, and deployment activities.

Survey & Route Assessment

• Conduct detailed field surveys for FTTH network expansion projects.

• Identify feasible fiber routes from OLT/POP to ODC, FAT, and customer premises.

• Assess underground and aerial fiber deployment possibilities.

• Identify utility crossings, road crossings, bridges, railway crossings, and obstacles.

Infrastructure Validation

• Validate existing telecom infrastructure such as: 

o OLT Locations

o ODC Locations

o FAT Locations

o Existing Ducts

o Poles and Manholes

o Joint Chambers

• Capture GPS coordinates of all network elements.

• Capture photographs of survey locations and critical observations. 

• Prepare survey reports, route maps, and feasibility documents.

Field Survey Skills

• Route mapping and validation.

• Pole and duct assessment.

• GPS data collection.

• Fiber route feasibility analysis.

• Highrise Buildings (Communication Shafts, Drop Cable Routes)

Technical Skills

• Knowledge of FTTH network architecture.

• Understanding of OLT, ODC, FAT, Splitters, and Fiber Distribution Networks.

• Experience in route surveys and infrastructure assessment.

• GPS surveying and route measurement techniques.

• Proficiency in MS Excel and survey reporting.

Job Summary

The FTTH Planning Engineer is responsible for planning, designing, and optimizing Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) networks to support broadband service deployment. The role involves network feasibility analysis, route planning, capacity planning, BOQ preparation, cost optimization, GIS-based design, and coordination with survey, deployment, and operations teams to ensure timely and quality project execution.

Network Planning & Design

• Design FTTH access networks based on GPON architecture.

• Identify and finalize OLT, ODC, FAT, and splitter locations.

• Ensure designs comply with company standards and deployment guidelines.

Route Planning

• Analyze survey inputs and finalize fiber routes.

• Plan aerial and underground fiber routes based on feasibility.

• Optimize route length, fiber utilization, and deployment cost.

• Identify alternate routes to mitigate deployment risks.

Capacity Planning

• Calculate feeder and distribution fiber requirements.

• Plan splitter hierarchy and utilization.

• Forecast customer growth and network scalability.

• Ensure adequate fiber capacity for future expansion.

Costing & BOQ Preparation

• Prepare Bill of Quantities (BOQ)

• Perform cost optimization without compromising network quality.

• Support commercial and finance approvals.

Validation & Quality Control

• Perform design validation before project release.

• Ensure First Time Right (FTR) design standards.

• Validate fiber counts, splice plans, and splitter allocation.
