Job SummaryThe Legal Associate (2W/3W Finance) will handle legal recovery, litigation support, and regulatory compliance for loan portfolios in the two-wheeler and three-wheeler vehicle finance segment. The primary focus is managing legal notices, initiating legal proceedings under statutory recovery frameworks, liaising with local law enforcement/advocates, and assisting the field collection and repossession teams with legal compliance.

  • Key ResponsibilitiesLegal Recovery & Notice Management:

  • Draft, verify, and issue legal notices, statutory demand notices, and Section 138 (Cheque Bounce / NI Act) notices for delinquent loan accounts.
  • Prepare cases for Section 25 (Payment and Settlement Systems Act) and Arbitration proceedings.
  • Field & Repossession Compliance:

  • Provide legal guidance and support to field collection and repossession teams for defaulted 2W/3W assets.
  • Ensure all vehicle repossessions adhere strictly to statutory guidelines, RBI regulations, and internal legal SOPs.
  • Handle police station intimations, local authority liaisons, and legal disputes arising during field recovery operations.
  • Litigation & Advocate Management:

  • File and follow up on execution petitions, Lok Adalat matters, and court cases across target regions.
  • Coordinate with external empanelled advocates for hearing updates, filing pleadings, and securing favorable orders.
  • Represent the organization at local courts, tribunals, and Lok Adalats as required.
  • Documentation & MIS Tracking:

  • Maintain and update daily legal trackers, litigation MIS, and recovery case statuses.
  • Manage physical and digital vaulting of legal notices, court orders, and loan agreements.
  • Eligibility & RequirementsEducational Qualification: Graduate degree in Law (LL.B / 3-year or 5-year integrated course) from a recognized university.
  • Experience: 1 to 3 years of relevant experience in legal recovery, litigation, or legal operations within Banking, NBFC, or Microfinance (preferably in 2W/3W or auto finance).
  • Skills & Knowledge:

  • Sound knowledge of Negotiable Instruments Act (Sec 138), Arbitration Law, Consumer Protection, and Civil/Criminal procedure.
  • Strong negotiation, field liaison, and dispute-resolution skills.
  • Proficient in regional language communication (vernacular) and English drafting.
  • Mandatory Requirement: Must possess a personal 2-wheeler vehicle with a valid driving license for field and court visits.
