Thomson Reuters is seeking an experienced Staff Software Engineer with expertise in .NET, Angular, Oracle, and PostgreSQL to join our dynamic team developing the next generation of the ONESOURCE Tax Provision application suite. Our engineering team is composed of professionals from diverse backgrounds, all driven by a commitment to building exceptional software that delivers measurable value and enhances customer satisfaction.

As a Staff Software Engineer, you will be responsible for contributing to the architecture, design, and implementation of scalable and robust solutions leveraging the Microsoft .NET framework, Angular for front-end development, and Oracle and PostgreSQL for data management. Your passion for engineering excellence, focus on delivering high-quality software, and dedication to continuous improvement will be key to our success. You will embrace an AI-First, agentic approach throughout the software development lifecycle, demonstrating adaptability and strong problem-solving skills in an ever-evolving environment.

In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders to define project objectives, specify development activities, and ensure the timely delivery of key milestones. Your excellent communication skills will enable you to effectively articulate the strategic value of engineering solutions and align technical initiatives with business objectives.

About ONESOURCE Tax Provision:
ONESOURCE Tax Provision is a comprehensive software suite designed to automate and streamline the corporate income tax provision process. The platform simplifies complex tax compliance by ensuring adherence to evolving regulations, optimizing workflows, and reducing the risks and costs associated with financial reporting. Seamlessly integrating with existing ERP systems, ONESOURCE automates tax calculations, journal entries, and data management, while providing real-time visibility into the tax provision process. By leveraging current regulatory content and advanced analytics, ONESOURCE empowers organizations to enhance operational efficiency, mitigate compliance risks, and accelerate financial close in a fast-paced, highly regulated environment.

About the Role:

As a Staff Software Engineer, you will play a critical role in the development and enhancement of our ONESOURCE Tax Provision application suite. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and developing high-quality software applications in collaboration with a geographically distributed team, following industry best practices.
  • Applying expert knowledge of software development methodologies to architect and build complex, scalable SaaS solutions.
  • Driving key technical decisions related to platform architecture, coding standards, and implementation strategies.
  • Contributing throughout the Agile development lifecycle, including design, programming, testing, documentation, quality assurance, and deployment.
  • Leading code reviews to uphold coding standards and provide constructive, actionable feedback.
  • Mentoring and guiding junior team members, fostering adherence to best practices and supporting their professional growth.
  • Accurately estimating development efforts and ensuring timely delivery of high-quality solutions.
  • Collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders to gather requirements and participate in application design.
  • Providing technical leadership and guidance to management, helping to define and shape the technical roadmap for new product development.
  • Dedicating time to innovation, exploring new technologies, tools, or projects that align with your areas of interest and expertise.

About You:

You are a Staff software engineer with over 10 years of experience across multiple programming languages and technologies, demonstrating the ability to quickly adapt and master new tools and frameworks. You thrive in dynamic, fast-paced environments, bringing strong technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a passion for delivering high-quality, scalable software solutions. Your qualifications include:

Technical Expertise:

  • Extensive experience in software development, with proficiency in .NET development (C#, VB.NET).
  • Expertise in responsive front-end and single-page application development using Angular.
  • Strong knowledge of REST API design and development, including experience with documentation tools such as Swagger and Postman.
  • Hands-on experience with both SQL and NoSQL databases, including MSSQL, PostgreSQL, and DynamoDB.
  • Familiarity with DataDog for observability, application performance monitoring (APM), and real user monitoring (RUM).
  • Proven experience in cloud-native development using AWS and/or Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
  • Experience with agentic AI-First development tools and processes, leveraging AI to enhance workflows and operations.
  • Solid understanding of application security, encompassing both web services and web application security.
  • Lead-level expertise in design patterns and N-Tier architecture for scalable enterprise applications.
  • Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills, with a track record of resolving complex technical issues.

Preferred Skills:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of object-oriented design, algorithms, data structures, and core computer science principles.
  • Proven ability to write clean, efficient, and maintainable code.
  • Experience translating business requirements into analytics solutions and data visualizations.
