The Team Lead Procurement Delivery Operations- Research & Lab and CAPEX (Engineering) brings analytical thinking, planning, execution, and focus to the procurement sourcing and delivery capability area. Using their specialized knowledge and expertise in Research & Lab and CAPEX (Engineering) categories of spend areas and procurement overall, the role proactively identifies and drives opportunities to maximize team delivery effectiveness.

The Team Lead Procurement Delivery Operations- Research & Lab and CAPEX (Engineering) collaborates with internal procurement (such as Customer Excellence, Delivery, Portfolio and Resource management, etc.) and functional management to contribute and implement a best-in-class procurement delivery capability. The role focuses on coordinating and allocating assignments and ensures balanced team utilization and consistent application of procurement methodologies. The Expert contributes to continuous improvement projects, and supports the team by removing impediments and blockers.

The role leads a team of Procurement Specialists and Experts, and works with them to best allocate activities and will align with other Delivery team supervisors to optimize overall resource utilization. Depending on the specific position, the role is accountable for managing resourcing activities and talent development of a medium sized team, with a focus on optimizing utilization, and ensuring alignment between team member competencies and development needs with work assignments.

The Opportunity:

The Team Lead Procurement Delivery Operations- Research & Lab and CAPEX (Engineering) will play a variety of roles according to their experience, knowledge, area of expertise,  and the general team requirements, including but not limited to:

• Category and sourcing subject matter expert evaluating the project requests and business needs coming in to best allocate them to the team members. In addition, the role can conduct market and internal analysis to develop strategies, best practices, and guidance on tactical plans for how Roche should source and negotiate for third party goods and services in order to satisfy stakeholder requirements.

• Procurement delivery practitioner delivering and executing sourcing strategies and major initiatives by leveraging spend, category know-how, robust sourcing, negotiation, contracting, supplier management methodologies and project management skills, and/or supporting team members in enhancing their skills and knowledge.

• Content and automation developer translating sourcing strategy into content, automated buying channels guidelines, best practices and communication materials that improve business adoption, satisfaction, and overall efficiency, and/or supporting and guiding team members in the execution.

The Team Lead Procurement Delivery Operations - Research & Lab and CAPEX (Engineering) will work within the capability team, networks, and squads/project teams to determine the various roles the expert can take to deliver or support others in both project and foundational work.

Who you are:

• You holds a University degree, with business degree preferred

• 7+ years procurement experience in sourcing, simple contracting, and operational efficiency projects or relevant commodity experience

• Business level fluency in English as well as primary business language of the site(s) supported, if applicable

• Solid leadership experience, extensive procurement experience and deep specific category knowledge in one or more categories

• Strong experience in procurement systems and processes

• Leadership and influencing skills

• Deep knowledge and experience in the Research & Lab and CAPEX (Engineering)

• Commodity area and knowledge of adjacent commodities categories and sub-categories

• Demonstrated project management skills
