Job Description
A warehouse supervisor shall have a mix of leadership, operational, and technical skills to manage inventory, staff, and safety. Key skills include proficiency in inventory management systems, strong team leadership, problem-solving, and time management to meet shipping deadlines.
Core Operational & Technical Skills
- Inventory Management: Maintaining stock accuracy, cycle counting, and overseeing receiving and shipping, often utilizing WMS (Warehouse Management System) software.
- Logistics & Equipment Knowledge
Operating or supervising the use of forklifts, pallet jacks, and other machinery.
- Process Optimization: Reviewing data to identify improvements in packing, storing, and shipping, such as implementing FIFO (First-In, First-Out).
Leadership & Soft Skills
- Team Management: Motivating employees, managing schedules, conducting training, and handling disciplinary actions.
- Communication: Providing clear instructions, leading shift briefings, and collaborating with transportation carriers.
- Problem-Solving: Addressing operational bottlenecks, equipment issues, or shipping inaccuracies quickly.
- Time Management & Organization: Prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines.
Key Qualifications
- Proven experience as a warehouse supervisor or similar role.
- High school diploma or equivalent (bachelor's degree in logistics/supply chain is often preferred).
- Physical ability to work in a fast-paced environment, often including walking, standing, and lifting
