Position Overview

Sanofi is seeking a Workday Functional and Product support to join our Digital P&C / People Services team. This is a critical role responsible for the functional ownership, optimization, and governance of the Workday Core HCM and Security framework across a complex global environment.

You will lead the design, configuration, and continuous improvement of Workday Core HCM while ensuring secure, compliant, and scalable access control models that support Sanofi’s global and local HR operations. This position partners closely with HR, IT, Compliance, and Security stakeholders to deliver a seamless, secure employee and manager experience aligned to Sanofi’s strategic objectives.

Main Responsibilities

Workday HCM Configuration & Optimization

  • Lead the design, configuration, and enhancement of Workday Core HCM and security ensuring best-in-class integration with Compensation, Benefits, Absence, Time Tracking, and other downstream systems.
  • Analyze and remediate existing Workday tenant configurations to improve global consistency, data quality, system performance, scalability, and user experience.
  • Drive harmonization of global core data models while supporting localization requirements for countries and regions.
  • Manage security impacts arising from new HCM configurations, releases, acquisitions, and organizational changes.

Stakeholder Collaboration & Requirements Management

  • Partner with global and local HR, Payroll, IT, and Security stakeholders to gather, analyze, and clarify complex functional and security-related requirements.
  • Translate business and compliance needs into effective Workday HCM and Security solutions while balancing flexibility, risk, and standardization.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders on Workday design decisions, tradeoffs, and best practices.

Innovation, Releases & Continuous Improvement

  • Stay up to date with Workday releases, features, and best practices, proactively identifying opportunities to improve functionality and controls.
  • Lead impact assessments and testing related to Workday releases affecting HCM and Security.
  • Support adoption of new features that enhance governance, automation, and employee experience.

Tenant Management & Environment Governance

  • Act as the functional owner of the Workday tenant, ensuring stability, consistency, and performance across all environments (Production, Sandbox, Preview, and Implementation tenants).
  • Govern tenant-wide configuration standards, naming conventions, transport rules, and promotion processes.
  • Coordinate and oversee Workday release management, including preview testing, impact assessments, regression testing, and go‑live readiness.
  • Manage tenant dependencies across HCM, Security, integrations, and downstream systems.
  • Ensure proper usage of tenants for testing, training, and deployment in line with internal controls and best practices.

Compliance, Controls & Documentation

  • Ensure all configurations and security models comply with regulatory requirements, internal audit standards, and Sanofi governance policies.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for HCM configurations, security roles, domains, business processes, and controls.
  • Support audits by providing clear traceability of access models, approvals, and system controls.

Experience

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in Workday HCM, HRIS product management, or digital HR transformation in a global organization.
  • Proven experience across functional workstreams, PMO governance, vendor/partner management, and executive stakeholder engagement. 
  • Familiarity with Workday configuration governance and environment/tenant strategies; able to peer coach technical teams (Architect/Config leads) while holding functional accountability. 

Technical Expertise

  • Deep expertise in Workday HCM configuration and tenant remediation.
  • Strong practical knowledge of Workday Security, including domains, business process security, roles, and access-based controls.
  • Workday HCM Pro certification preferred; Workday Security experience or certification is a strong plus.
  • Experience integrating Workday with local HRIS and third-party systems is highly desirable.

Domain & Business Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of core HR data models, employee lifecycle processes, and localization requirements in global organizations.
  • Knowledge of HR compliance, data privacy principles, and access governance concepts.
  • Ability to translate complex HR and security needs into pragmatic system solutions.
