Job Description
Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented, analytical, and dependable Laboratory Technician to join our growing team. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting scientific investigations, performing routine and complex laboratory tests, maintaining specialized equipment, and ensuring a safe, compliant environment. The ideal candidate possesses strong technical skills, a deep respect for safety protocols, and the ability to organize and interpret data with high accuracy.
Core Responsibilities
Testing & Analysis: Conduct routine qualitative and quantitative analyses, sample processing, and testing following strict Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Equipment Management: Set up, calibrate, operate, and maintain laboratory instruments (e.g., centrifuges, pipettes, spectrometers, microscopes). Troubleshoot minor technical issues.
Data Integrity: Accurately record, analyze, and compile experimental data. Input findings into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and prepare technical reports.
Inventory & Preparation: Prepare chemical solutions, reagents, media, and cultures. Track inventory levels of laboratory supplies and order replacements as needed.
Safety & Compliance: Adhere to all safety guidelines, including the proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous chemicals and biological waste. Maintain a clean, organized workstation.
Quality Control: Participate in quality assurance programs and proficiency testing to ensure the validity and reliability of all laboratory results.
Requirements & Qualifications
Education & Experience
Minimum: Associate degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Medical Laboratory Science, or a closely related scientific field.
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline.
1–3 years of experience working in a professional laboratory environment (clinical, industrial, or academic).
Technical Skills
Proficiency with standard laboratory techniques, pipetting, and chemical safety practices.
Familiarity with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and data analysis software.
Strong command of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
Soft Skills
Attention to Detail: Precision is critical; must be able to spot minor discrepancies in data or samples.
Organization: Excellent time management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills for documenting procedures and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
