Job Description
Job Summary
A Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and improving mechanical systems and products. They use engineering principles and computer-aided design (CAD) software to create efficient, safe, and cost-effective mechanical solutions for manufacturing, construction, automotive, aerospace, and other industries.
Key Responsibilities
- Design mechanical components, machines, and systems using CAD software
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings and technical specifications
- Analyze product performance, strength, and durability
- Develop prototypes and conduct testing procedures
- Modify designs based on testing results and client requirements
- Collaborate with manufacturing, production, and quality teams
- Ensure designs comply with industry standards and safety regulations
- Perform calculations related to stress, load, temperature, and material selection
- Support product development from concept to production
- Prepare reports, documentation, and presentations
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles
- Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or CATIA
- Understanding of manufacturing processes and materials
- Problem-solving and analytical thinking skills
- Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
- Ability to read and create technical drawings
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Attention to detail and project management ability
