Merchant Cum Designer (Jewellery Industry)

Merchandising & Sourcing

• Plan product assortments to ensure the right items are available at the right time, price, and quantity.
• Source gemstones, precious metals, and components at competitive prices.

Production & Vendor Management

• Coordinate with karigars, workshops, and manufacturers to oversee the sampling and production process.
• Ensure finished pieces meet quality control (QC) standards and budget margins.
• Manage vendor relations, negotiate costs, and oversee delivery timelines. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

Sales & Marketing Alignment

• Work alongside sales and marketing teams to position collections for retail or wholesale markets.
• Assist in product training for retail staff and provide insights on gemstone properties and design features. [1, 2]

Key Requirements

• Experience: 3–8+ years in the jewellery industry, with proven experience bridging design and commercial operations.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in jewellery design software (Rhino, Matrix, ZBrush, or CorelDraw) combined with a deep knowledge of manufacturing processes (casting, stone setting, polishing).
• Business Acumen: Strong understanding of profit margins, wholesale/retail pricing, and inventory management.
