Job Description: Accountant for Australian Public Practice

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accountant to join our growing accounting

practice. This client-facing role involves managing a portfolio of clients, ensuring compliance

with Australian taxation laws, and delivering high-quality accounting services.

Key Responsibilities

Client Management

 Act as the primary point of contact for accounting, tax, and compliance queries.

Taxation & Compliance

 Prepare income tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts, and partnerships.

 Prepare BAS and IAS

 Liaise via emails with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) on compliance and audit

matters.

Review Payroll

 Manage PAYG, superannuation, and Single Touch Payroll (STP).

Financial Reporting & Bookkeeping

 Review bookkeeping, bank reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.

 Complete month-end accounting tasks.

 Prepare monthly financial reports, including Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow

statements.

 Assist with year-end closing procedures and preparation of final accounts.

Skills & Experience

 Degree in Accounting or related field.

 Experience in an Australian accounting or public practice.

 Knowledge of Australian tax legislation and ATO compliance.

 Experience with accounting software such as Xero, MYOB, or QuickBooks.

 Strong communication and time management skills.
