A CNC turning machine operator is responsible for operating and monitoring CNC (Computer Numerical Control) lathes to produce precision components according to technical drawings and specifications. The role requires attention to detail, basic programming knowledge, and adherence to safety standards.
- Key Responsibilities Set up and operate CNC turning machines (lathes).
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and job orders.
- Load raw materials and ensure proper alignment and clamping.
- Monitor machine operations to ensure quality and accuracy.
- Measure finished parts using tools like calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of machines.
- Identify and report defects or machine malfunctions.
- Maintain production records and reports.
- Follow all workplace safety and quality standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of CNC machines and turning operations.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and understand tolerances.
- Familiarity with measuring instruments (vernier caliper, micrometer, etc.).
- Understanding of G-code basics (preferred).
- Good attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Physical stamina and ability to work in shifts.
- ITI/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related field (often preferred).
- ExperienceEntry-level: 0–2 years (with training)
- Experienced roles: 2+ years in CNC turning or machining
