*Job Profile: New Vendor Development – Sourcing & Technical Evaluation Specialist**


**Role Overview:**

The New Vendor Development (NVD) – Sourcing & Technical Evaluation Specialist is a pivotal role responsible for identifying, evaluating, onboarding, and nurturing technically proficient vendors. This position is crucial for aligning vendor capabilities with the organization's manufacturing, quality, cost, and scale requirements across various engineering processes. The specialist will engage in structured market mapping, vendor database management, and continuous scouting of emerging suppliers and technologies.

**Key Responsibilities:**


1. **Vendor Identification and Evaluation:**

  - Conduct structured market mapping of industrial clusters to identify potential vendors.

  - Build and segment a comprehensive vendor database based on capability and capacity.

  - Continuously scout for emerging suppliers and technologies that align with organizational needs.


2. **Technical and Commercial Assessment:**

  - Possess a strong technical understanding of hand tool and engineering manufacturing processes including forging, machining, broaching, heat treatment, polishing, electroplating, and fabrication.

  - Conduct detailed techno-commercial evaluations and float RFQs.

  - Perform cost breakdown analysis covering material, conversion, finishing, logistics, and packaging.

  - Benchmark pricing against industry standards and lead structured negotiations for annual rate contracts and volume programs.


3. **Vendor Audits and Compliance:**

  - Conduct comprehensive vendor audits covering production capability, quality systems, process control, traceability, manpower competence, maintenance practices, and EHS compliance.

  - Verify certifications such as ISO, environmental, and social compliance standards.


4. **Sample Development and Coordination:**

  - Drive sample development from drawing to approval.

  - Coordinate with internal QA and production teams to validate dimensional and performance parameters.

  - Ensure proper documentation for approvals.


5. **Performance Monitoring and Risk Management:**

  - Establish vendor scorecards to monitor rejection rates, delivery adherence, cost competitiveness, responsiveness, and capacity reliability.

  - Develop alternate sources for critical SKUs to reduce supply risk and strengthen supply chain resilience.


**Qualifications:**


- **Experience:** 5–10 years of experience in vendor development or sourcing within hand tools, auto components, or engineering manufacturing environments, preferably with export exposure.

- **Technical Skills:** Strong technical understanding of manufacturing processes including forging lines, presses, furnaces, CNC/VMC/SPM machining, die development, heat treatment cycles, polishing systems, tri-nickel chrome plating, inspection infrastructure, metallurgy basics, torque and hardness testing, and engineering drawing interpretation including GD&T.

- **Commercial Acumen:** Demonstrated ability in cost breakdown analysis, pricing benchmarking, and structured negotiations.

- **Risk Assessment:** Capability to assess and mitigate supply risks by developing alternate sourcing strategies.

- **Cross-functional Coordination:** Strong skills in coordinating with internal teams such as QA and production.

- **Data-driven Decision Making:** Ability to make informed decisions based on data analysis and vendor performance metrics.

- New vendor onboarding rates.

- Cost savings achieved through effective vendor negotiations and sourcing strategies.

- Development of alternate sources to enhance supply chain resilience.

- Improvement in vendor quality performance and on-time delivery.
