Head Operations & Projects (Green Ammonia)

Role Overview

The Head – Operations & Projects will lead end-to-end execution, commissioning, and operational excellence of the Green Ammonia project. This role is responsible for project delivery (EPC/EPCM coordination), plant operations, safety, cost control, and continuous improvement, ensuring alignment with sustainability, regulatory, and commercial objectives.

Key Responsibilities

1. Project Execution & Delivery

  • Lead development and execution of Green Ammonia projects from FEED to commissioning and handover
  • Oversee EPC/EPCM contractors, licensors, OEMs, and consultants
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to quality standards
  • Manage project risks, change management, and milestone tracking
  • Coordinate with technology providers (electrolyzers, ASU, Haber-Bosch loop, storage & logistics)

2. Operations & Plant Management

  • Establish and lead safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations
  • Develop SOPs, operating manuals, maintenance strategies, and KPI frameworks
  • Drive plant performance optimization (energy efficiency, uptime, yield)
  • Implement preventive & predictive maintenance systems
  • Build and lead operations, maintenance, and technical teams

3. Health, Safety, Environment & Compliance (HSE)

  • Ensure compliance with all HSE, statutory, and environmental regulations
  • Promote a strong safety culture aligned with global best practices
  • Oversee audits, risk assessments, and emergency response planning
  • Ensure compliance with green certification, carbon accounting, and sustainability standards

4. Cost, Budget & Commercial Support

  • Develop and manage CAPEX and OPEX budgets
  • Drive cost optimization across operations and supply chain
  • Support commercial teams with production planning, reliability inputs, and customer commitments
  • Participate in long-term planning and scalability assessments

5. Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Management

  • Liaise with government bodies, regulators, lenders, and JV partners
  • Work closely with engineering, procurement, finance, and sustainability teams
  • Represent operations in board and investor reviews

6. Strategy & Growth

  • Support expansion, debottlenecking, and future green hydrogen/ammonia projects
  • Track emerging technologies and industry best practices
  • Contribute to long-term operational and asset management strategy

Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering / Mechanical Engineering / Process Engineering
  • Master’s degree or MBA preferred

Experience

  • 25+ of experience in chemicals, fertilizers, hydrogen, ammonia, or large process plants
  • Proven leadership in project execution and plant operations
  • Experience with ammonia, hydrogen, electrolyzers, renewable integration, or similar process plants preferred
  • Strong background in EPC management and commissioning
