Job Description
About the Role
The Factory Manager will be responsible for overall operations, production planning, quality assurance, maintenance, manpower management, safety, and profitability of two manufacturing units producing Healthy Hunger Jaggery Cubes, Jaggery Blocks, and Jaggery Powder. The role requires ensuring smooth plant operations, achieving production targets, maintaining food safety standards, and driving continuous process improvements.
- Key Responsibilities 1. Production Management
- Manage end-to-end production operations of:
- Jaggery Cubes Unit
- Jaggery Powder & Block Unit
- Ensure daily, weekly, and monthly production targets are achieved.
- Monitor production efficiency, wastage, yield, and productivity.
- Optimize machine utilization and manpower deployment.
- Develop and implement production schedules based on sales forecasts and dispatch plans.
- 2. Plant Operations & MaintenanceOversee operations of:
- FFS Packaging Machines
- Industrial Dryers
- Vibro Sieves
- Pulverizers / Powder Mills
- Conveying Systems
- Gamma Treated Product Handling Areas
- Coordinate preventive and breakdown maintenance activities.
- Ensure minimum machine downtime and maximum plant efficiency.
- Maintain adequate spare parts inventory.
- 3. Quality & Food SafetyEnsure compliance with:
- FSSAI Regulations
- FSSC 22000 / HACCP Requirements
- GMP & GHP Standards
- Internal Quality Management Systems
- Monitor product quality parameters including:
- Moisture
- Colour
- Particle Size
- Microbiological Standards
- Packaging Integrity
- Ensure all products meet approved specifications before dispatch.
- 4. Raw Material & Inventory ManagementMonitor procurement and consumption of:
- Jaggery Blocks
- Packaging Materials
- Labels & Cartons
- Consumables
- Control inventory levels and reduce material wastage.
- Conduct regular stock audits and reconciliation.
- 5. Team ManagementLead and manage:
- Production Supervisors
- Machine Operators
- Quality Team
- Maintenance Staff
- Packaging Personnel
- Warehouse Team
- Conduct daily production review meetings.
- Train employees on SOPs, hygiene, safety, and operational excellence.
- Drive employee discipline and performance.
- 6. Cost Control & Productivity ImprovementMonitor production costs and identify opportunities for savings.
- Reduce wastage and improve recovery percentages.
- Improve OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness).
- Implement lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
- 7. Safety & ComplianceEnsure a safe working environment across both units.
- Enforce PPE usage and safety procedures.
- Conduct safety audits and corrective actions.
- Ensure statutory compliance with Factory Act, Labour Laws, Pollution Control Norms, and Food Safety Regulations.
- 8. Dispatch & Supply Chain CoordinationCoordinate with Sales, Planning, and Logistics teams.
- Ensure timely production and dispatch of customer orders.
- Maintain optimum finished goods inventory.
- Achieve targeted service levels and fill rates.
- 9. Reporting & MISSubmit daily, weekly, and monthly reports covering:
- Production Output
- Machine Efficiency
- Rejections & Wastage
- Labour Productivity
- Maintenance Status
- Inventory Levels
- Cost Analysis
- Present operational performance to management.
- Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)Production Target Achievement (%)

- QualificationsB.Tech / B.E. Food Technology, Mechanical, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
- MBA Operations preferred.
- Experience8–15 years of manufacturing experience.
- Minimum 5 years as Factory Manager or Plant Manager in FMCG/Food Processing Industry.
- Experience in jaggery, sugar, food ingredients, spices, seasonings, or agro-processing industry preferred.
- Required SkillsStrong leadership and team management skills.
- Expertise in food manufacturing operations.
- Knowledge of FSSAI, FSSC 22000, HACCP, GMP, and Food Safety standards.
- Production planning and inventory management.
- Cost control and process optimization.
- Maintenance planning and machine handling.
- Strong analytical and reporting skills.
- Proficiency in ERP and MS Excel.
