Job Description: Insurance Manager – Agency Channel
Canara HSBC Life Insurance Company Ltd.
Role Summary
As an Insurance Manager (IM) in the Agency Channel at Canara HSBC Life, you’ll build and lead a team of Insurance Advisors to drive retail life insurance sales in your territory. Think of it as running your own business unit with company support.
Key Responsibilities
1. Recruitment & Licensing
- Identify and recruit potential Insurance Advisors through references, job fairs, natural market, and digital sourcing
- Ensure candidates complete IRDAI training + exam and get licensed
- Target: 2-4 quality recruitments per month as per Canara HSBC Life norms
2. Training & Joint Field Work
- Train new advisors on Canara HSBC Life products: iSelect Smart360 Term Plan, Guaranteed Savings Plan, Invest 4G ULIP, Pension4Life, etc.
- Conduct classroom + on-the-job training on sales pitch, need analysis, and IRDAI compliance
- Do joint calls with advisors to help close first 3-5 policies
3. Business & Team Management
- Drive monthly targets on NOP, APE, Case Size, and Activization
- Ensure balanced product mix: Protection + Savings + Retirement solutions
- Activate minimum 60-70% of team every month
- Drive 13th month persistency > 75% through renewal follow-ups
4. Agent Development & Retention
- Run daily morning huddles, weekly reviews, and monthly business planning
- Launch company contests: Club Elite, MDRT, Super Achievers programs
- Counsel non-performers and retain top advisors through R&R and career pathing
5. Compliance & Customer Centricity
- Ensure 100% ethical selling as per IRDAI guidelines
- Support advisors in documentation, medicals, and claim settlement
- Coordinate with Branch Ops, Underwriting, and Training teams at Salt Lake/Kolkata branch
Canara HSBC Life Specific KPIs
- APE: As per branch target slab
- Active Advisor Base: 10-15 minimum
- Case Rate: 1.5+ per active advisor
- Persistency: 13M > 75%, 25M > 65%
- Product Focus: Term + Par/Non-Par Savings + ULIP
Eligibility
- Education: Graduate mandatory, MBA preferred
- Experience: 1-4 years in Life Insurance Agency/Banca/Direct Sales
- Age: 22-60 years typically
- Skills: Leadership, local market connect in West Bengal, two-wheeler must
- License: IRDAI license preferred; company will sponsor if needed
