Job Description

Airtel Fiber installation roles, often referred to as Field Installation Engineers or Fiber Technicians, require a blend of technical knowledge in networking and hands-on cabling skills. The positions range from entry-level to experienced, with a strong preference for candidates with practical experience in FTTH (Fiber to the Home) technology.

Technical Background & Skills Required

  • Education: Minimum 10th/12th Pass, though an ITI or Diploma in Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE), Electrical, or Networking is highly preferred.
  • Core Technical Skills:
  • Fiber Optic Knowledge: Understanding of FTTH, FTTC, PON, and Fiber to the Home networks.
  • Splicing & Termination: Proficiency in fusion splicing machines, fiber optic cable splicing, and termination techniques.
  • Testing & Troubleshooting: Ability to use tools like OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer), Optical Power Meters, VFL (Visual Fault Locator), and Laser Sources.
  • Router Configuration: Knowledge of configuring modems, routers, and testing internet connectivity (WAN/LAN).
  • Cable Routing: Experience with aerial and underground cable laying and wiring
