Fiber Technician

Key Responsibilities Area-

· Installation: Laying and routing overhead or underground fiber optic cables. This includes drilling, trenching, and setting up modems or routers inside customer premises.

· Splicing: Precisely joining fiber optic strands together using fusion splicing machines or mechanical splices to ensure minimal signal loss.

· Testing and troubleshooting: Utilizing advanced testing tools (like OTDR meters and power meters) to check signal strength, identify physical damage, and locate faults in the network.

· Maintenance: Performing routine inspections on outside plant (OSP) and inside plant (ISP) equipment to protect fibers from environmental damage and prevent outages.

· Customer Service: Interacting directly with clients to explain setups, resolve connection issues, and ensure a seamless broadband experience.

Key Skills Needed

·        Technical Aptitude: Understanding of optical networks, IP protocols, and telecommunication hardware.

·        Physical Stamina: Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions lifts heavy equipment, and work in tight or elevated spaces.
