Product Designer — Bags & Accessories

ROLE OVERVIEW

We are looking for a Junior Product Designer with a strong aesthetic sensibility and a working knowledge of bag construction. You will be responsible for translating trend direction into commercially viable product concepts — from initial sketches and material selection through to finalised tech packs ready for sampling. This is a hands-on, execution-focused role with direct visibility into product launches across licensed and in-house brand lines.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

•     Research seasonal trends, consumer aesthetics, and competitor product ranges to inform design direction

•     Develop product concepts for bags and accessories — silhouettes, colourways, surface treatments, hardware, and trim details

•     We don’t want you to follow trends. We want you to start them. Every season, bring us bag designs that make people stop and ask “who made this?” — concepts that break from familiar silhouettes, reimagine how a bag is built or used, and give the category a direction it didn’t know it needed

•     Create detailed technical drawings and tech packs (construction specs, measurements, material callouts, hardware details, stitching notes) for the sampling team

•     Select and source materials — fabrics, linings, zippers, webbing, labels — with a clear understanding of how each will behave in production

•     Collaborate with the factory floor and QC team to resolve sampling issues and ensure design intent is maintained through production

•     Build and maintain a structured design library (swatches, hardware, trim cards, reference samples)

•     Prepare design presentations and mood boards for internal reviews and client approvals

•     Stay current with global bag and accessories trends (streetwear, stationery, licensed merchandise, gifting)

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

•     Degree or diploma in Product Design, Accessory Design, or a related field from a recognised institution (NIFT, NID, Pearl Academy, or equivalent)

•     1–3 years of experience in product design, preferably in bags, accessories, or fashion

•     Strong proficiency in Adobe Illustrator for technical flat drawing and CorelDRAW for production-ready artwork

•     Working knowledge of Photoshop for mood boards and design presentations

•     Solid understanding of bag construction — seam types, reinforcement, interfacing, hardware attachment, and print/embroidery placement

•     Ability to create clear, production-ready tech packs independently

•     An eye for trend direction with the ability to adapt global aesthetics for target market segments

•     Strong attention to detail and structured approach to design documentation

•     Good written and verbal communication in English

GOOD TO HAVE

•     Prior experience working with export-oriented manufacturers

•     Exposure to licensed product development (understanding of brand guideline compliance)

•     Knowledge of sustainable materials — organic cotton, jute, recycled fabrics

•     Familiarity with Adobe InDesign for lookbook or presentation layout
