Job Description
An Airtel Wireman (also referred to as a Fiber Technician or Installation Technician) is a field-based role focused on laying fiber optic cables and installing broadband services at customer locations. This is a field job requiring extensive travel to residential or commercial sites to connect customers to Airtel Fiber (FTTH). [1, 2, 3]
Key Responsibilities
- Fiber Cable Laying & Routing: Installing fiber optic cable from the main supply point to the customer location, ensuring proper routing and safety.
- Installation & Activation: Setting up and activating fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) connections, including installing the Optical Network Terminal (ONT) or WiFi Router.
- Configuration & Troubleshooting: Configuring routers, testing for optimal speed, and troubleshooting connectivity issues.
- Customer Interaction: Providing a demo of services to customers, ensuring satisfactory installation, and resolving initial service complaints.
- Field Reporting: Maintaining daily installation reports, reporting completed jobs to technical leads, and managing tool inventory.
Eligibility Criteria & Requirements
- Education: Minimum 10th standard or ITI, or 12th pass (varies by location).
- Experience: Freshers or experienced technicians, with training usually provided.
- Mandatory Assets: Own two-wheeler vehicle and a valid driving license.
- Languages: Proficient in the local language.
Salary & Benefits (As of April 2026)
- Salary: Typically ₹11,000 – ₹15,000+ per month (take-home), with higher CTC packages available depending on location and experience.
- Additional Compensation: Incentives, performance rewards, and fuel allowances.
- Benefits: ESI (Employee State Insurance) and PF (Provident Fund) are provided.
