Role Overview
We are actively seeking a highly proficient and motivated candidate to join our esteemed team in the capacity of an Akamai Security Lead professional. In this pivotal role, the successful candidate will assume the responsibility of delivering top-tier edge security and content delivery services, exclusively tailored for the Akamai Intelligent Edge Platform, a cornerstone of our operations. This role is deeply collaborative, requiring seamless interaction with multifaceted cross-functional teams to conceptualize and execute resilient and scalable security solutions, meticulously designed for the protection, performance, and optimization of our global web footprint.
Requirements:
Key Responsibilities
Enable Akamai Framework & Strategy: Lead the comprehensive design, strategic deployment, and ongoing management of Akamai CDN, WAF, and Edge solutions, ensuring robust protection and high availability.
Operational Support (WAF & Security): Provide day-to-day operational support for WAF management, including the creation and fine-tuning of security policies to strengthen application security and ensure OWASP Top 10 compliance.
Project Ownership: Own end-to-end CDN/WAF projects, from initial architecture and stakeholder planning through to successful implementation, configuration, and post-deployment support.
Configuration & Lifecycle Management: Manage essential services including Edge DNS, Image/Video optimization, EdgeWorkers, API Gateway, NetStorage, and Cloudlets policies.
Hardening & Compliance: Define and maintain hardening policies, manage virtual servers, nodes, pools, and certificates, and close audit points/vulnerabilities by coordinating with internal and external teams.
Automation & Process Enhancement: Apply automation solutions to optimize work processes, configuration backups, and standardization of configurations across all properties.
Performance Optimization: Proactively optimize edge delivery, performance, and security by leveraging intelligent caching strategies, traffic management, and sophisticated bot-fighting techniques.
Reporting & Collaboration: Collaborate seamlessly with Engineering, Product Management, and PaaS Team develop reports to showcase operational health, security posture, and performance metrics.
Deliverables: Act as the primary technical escalation point and manage strategic relationships with Akamai, handling technical escalations and championing feature adoption.
Requirements & Qualifications
Total Experience: 8+ years of progressive experience in IT, with a focus on CDN and WAF technologies in large-scale, high-traffic environments.
Relevant Expertise: 6+ years of hands-on experience in architecting and managing Akamai solutions.
Certification Required:
o Cloud: Cloud Certified (Azure / AWS / GCP). Preferred Multi Cloud exposure.
o Akamai: Akamai Certified Web Performance Professional or Akamai Certified Security Professional.
Technical Proficiency:
o Deep knowledge of web delivery architecture, advanced caching, DNS, SSL/TLS, and HTTP/HTTPS protocols.
o Expertise in WAF policy tuning, false-positive analysis, bot mitigation, and multi-layered DDoS protection.
Analytical Prowess: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proven ability to derive actionable insights from complex security logs and event data.
Communication: Outstanding oral, written, and presentation abilities adept at translating intricate technical requirements into system specifications for stakeholders.
Professional Attributes: Highly self-motivated, with a strong commitment to standardization, simplification, and the ability to function effectively in a fast-paced international environment.
Professional Experience/Attribute
Strong familiarity with Azure cloud services with deep and comprehensive knowledge of DNS, Networking.
Exceptional analytical skills and the ability to derive actionable insights from complex data.
Effective communication and collaboration skills, with a track record of working with cross-functional teams.
Adept at defining and tracking KPIs for performance improvement.
Prior experience in monitoring and analyzing cloud cost trends.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to create and maintain documentation for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
