Job Description
- Strategic Brand Management: Develops the overall vision, positioning, and annual marketing plans for specific therapeutic brands.
- Sales Enablement: Equips the field sales force (Medical Representatives) with product manuals, scientific platforms, and promotional materials.
- KOL Engagement: Collaborates with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and healthcare professionals to drive awareness and trust in the drug.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensures all promotional materials and claims strictly adhere to regional health and regulatory guidelines.
- Inventory & Forecasting: Analyzes sales data and monitors inventory levels to prevent stock-outs at central and regional levels. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6]
2. At a Retail Franchise Medical Store (e.g., Apollo Pharmacy, MedPlus, or 1MG)
- Private Label & Portfolio Management: Oversees the strategy, sourcing, and branding of the pharmacy chain’s exclusive/generic product lines.
- Customer Journey Optimization: Designs and improves the user experience for purchasing medicines across in-store and e-commerce applications.
- Data Analytics: Monitors daily sales, margins, and customer purchasing habits to optimize pricing, loyalty programs, and inventory turnover.
- Supply Chain Collaboration: Works closely with procurement and logistics teams to ensure popular OTC products and prescription medications are always in stock.
- Vendor Management: Negotiates deals, promotional partnerships, and merchandising placement within the franchise stores with various pharmaceutical vendors.
3. At a Chemist Store (Independent Pharmacy Level)
Small or independent chemist stores rarely have a dedicated "Product Manager." Instead, these responsibilities are handled by the Owner or Store Manager.
- Inventory Curation: Selects which brands, generic alternatives, and OTC (Over-the-Counter) items to stock based on the specific health needs of the local neighborhood.
- Merchandising: Determines shelf placement and point-of-sale displays to maximize the visibility of high-margin health products.
- Local Marketing: Runs localized promotions (e.g., seasonal allergy medications, vitamin bundles) to drive foot traffic.
- Customer Feedback: Directly interacts with patients to identify unfulfilled product requests or health needs. [1]
