Job Description
- Key Responsibilities
- Network Design & Infrastructure Management
- Deploy & Configure: Install, configure, and maintain core network hardware including routers, switches, load balancers, and wireless access points.
- Architecture & Optimization: Design and implement scalable local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and software-defined networks (SD-WAN).
- Performance Monitoring: Continuously monitor network performance, traffic, and latency to troubleshoot bottlenecks and ensure maximum uptime.
- Firewall & Network Security Administration
- Policy Management: Design, implement, and audit stringent firewall policies, NAT rules, and access control lists (ACLs) across enterprise Next-Generation Firewalls (NGFW).
- Secure Remote Access: Configure and manage secure Site-to-Site VPN tunnels and Client-to-Site remote access solutions (IPsec/SSL VPN).
- Threat Mitigation: Oversee Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS), Content Filtering, and Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) modules.
- Maintenance, Troubleshooting & Support
- Lifecycle Management: Schedule and execute firmware updates, patches, and licensing renewals for all network and security appliances.
- Incident Response: Serve as a Tier 2/3 escalation point for complex network outages, routing anomalies, or security incidents.
- Disaster Recovery: Maintain rigorous backup configurations and participate in disaster recovery planning and testing.
- Required Skills & Qualifications Technical Competencies
- Routing & Switching: Strong knowledge of routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP) and switching technologies (VLANs, STP, Link Aggregation).
- Firewall Expertise: Hands-on experience managing enterprise-grade firewalls (e.g., Fortinet FortiGate, Palo Alto Networks, Sophos, or Cisco ASA/Firepower).
- Network Services: Deep understanding of core protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, HTTP/S, and SNMP.
- Security Frameworks: Familiarity with network security best practices, vulnerability assessments, and compliance standards.
- Education & Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Experience: 3–5+ years of dedicated experience in network administration and firewall engineering roles.
- Preferred Certifications (Any of the following is a plus)Networking: CCNA / CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional)
- Security/Firewall: Fortinet NSE 4–7, Palo Alto PCNSA/PCNSE, or Sophos Certified Engineer.
- General Security: CompTIA Security+ or CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker).
- Soft Skills & Attributes
- Analytical Thinking: Exceptional diagnostic and problem-solving skills with a methodical approach to troubleshooting.
- Communication: Ability to explain complex technical issues and security risks clearly to both technical teams and business stakeholders.
- Adaptability: A strong willingness to stay updated on emerging cyber threats and evolving networking technologies.
- Availability: Willingness to participate in a rotating on-call schedule for critical weekend or after-hours maintenance.
