Job Description
The CNC Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines (such as CNC Lathe, VMC, HMC, Turning Centers, Milling, Laser Cutting, etc.) to produce precision parts and components as per technical drawings and specifications. The role ensures high-quality output, efficient production, adherence to safety standards, and minimal downtime in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Key ResponsibilitiesSet up and prepare CNC machines by installing tools, fixtures, and workpieces.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, engineering plans, and CAD/CAM files to understand job requirements.
Load raw materials (metal bars, billets, plates, etc.) and unload finished parts.
Input or adjust CNC programs (G-code, M-code), set offsets, and perform test runs to verify accuracy.
Operate CNC machines to perform tasks like turning, milling, drilling, grinding, cutting, or shaping.
Monitor machine operations continuously, make necessary adjustments for speed, feed, or tool wear, and troubleshoot minor issues.
Inspect finished parts using precision measuring tools (vernier caliper, micrometer, height gauge, bore gauge, etc.) and compare against specifications.
Perform routine maintenance: cleaning, tool changes, lubrication, and basic preventive checks.
Maintain production records, logs, and quality documentation.
Ensure compliance with safety protocols, 5S, and quality standards (ISO or company-specific).
Report any machine malfunctions, quality deviations, or material issues to the supervisor.
Meet daily/weekly production targets while maintaining quality and minimizing scrap/waste.
- Required Qualifications & EducationMinimum: 10th / 12th pass + ITI (Turner, Machinist, or CNC Trade) or Diploma in Mechanical / Production Engineering.
- Preferred: Certificate or short-term course in CNC Programming & Operation.
- 1–5 years of hands-on experience operating CNC machines in a manufacturing setup (Lathe/VMC preferred).
- Preferred Skills (Advantage in Ludhiana/Punjab Manufacturing)Experience with automotive, cycle, tractor, or engineering parts manufacturing.
- Knowledge of multiple machines (CNC Lathe + VMC).
- Basic CNC programming skills.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing or 5S practices.
