Key Roles & Responsibilities – Accountant (Manufacturing Plant)

1. Cost Accounting & Control

Calculate product cost covering raw materials, labor, and overheads

Maintain and update Bill of Materials (BOM) and cost sheets

Monitor cost variances and support cost control initiatives

2. Inventory & Store Management

Reconcile physical stock with book records on a periodic basis

Ensure accurate inventory valuation (FIFO / Weighted Average)

Take full accountability for store operations, including material receipt, storage, and issuance

Monitor stock levels to avoid shortages or excess inventory

3. Production Accounting

Record and verify daily production transactions

Calculate per unit manufacturing cost

Track material consumption vs standard norms and highlight variances

4. Accounts Payable & Receivable

Process vendor invoices and payments in line with agreed terms

Verify Purchase Orders (POs), GRNs, and invoices

Follow up on customer collections and outstanding payments

Prepare and review weekly aging reports for debtors and creditors

5. GST & Tax Compliance (India)

Ensure accurate GST accounting and timely return filing

Reconcile GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, and purchase registers

Manage TDS, income tax, and other statutory compliances

6. Financial Reporting & MIS

Prepare Profit & Loss Account, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow Statements

Generate plant-level profitability reports

Develop and share Daily MIS reports( which activity done) to support management decision-making
