The role involves supervising daily restaurant operations, ensuring service standards are maintained, handling guest concerns, coordinating with the kitchen, and supporting the achievement of departmental revenue and guest satisfaction goals.Key Responsibilities1. Guest ServiceWelcome guests warmly and escort them to their tables when required.Ensure every guest receives prompt, courteous, and personalized service.Present menus and explain food and beverage offerings, including daily specials.Take accurate food and beverage orders using the hotel's POS system.Recommend menu items through suggestive selling and upselling techniques.Follow up during meals to ensure guest satisfaction.Handle guest complaints professionally and resolve issues promptly.Ensure memorable guest experiences in line with hotel service standards.2. Restaurant OperationsPrepare the restaurant before service (mise en place).Ensure tables are properly set according to hotel standards.Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of dining areas, buffet counters, and service stations.Monitor table turnover efficiently.Ensure all equipment is clean and operational.Coordinate smooth service during breakfast, lunch, dinner, banquets, and special events.3. Team SupervisionSupervise stewards, trainees, and service associates during shifts.Allocate daily duties and monitor performance.Train new employees on SOPs, grooming standards, and guest service.Conduct pre-shift briefings.Maintain teamwork and positive communication within the department.4. Food & Beverage KnowledgeMaintain comprehensive knowledge of:Menu itemsIngredientsCooking methodsBeverage listsWines and spirits (where applicable)Allergens and dietary requirementsAssist guests with menu recommendations.Ensure proper food presentation before serving.5. Sales & RevenueAchieve upselling and cross-selling targets.Promote signature dishes, desserts, beverages, and promotional offers.Maximize average guest spending while maintaining excellent service.Support revenue generation initiatives introduced by management.6. Cash Handling & BillingPrepare accurate guest bills.Process cash, card, and digital payments.Ensure proper billing procedures are followed.Maintain accountability for cash collections during shifts.Coordinate with the cashier and Front Office where applicable.7. Hygiene & SafetyFollow hotel hygiene standards and food safety regulations.Ensure compliance with HACCP guidelines.Maintain personal grooming as per hotel standards.Report safety hazards immediately.Follow fire safety and emergency procedures.Ensure safe handling of food and beverages.8. Inventory & Store CoordinationMonitor restaurant supplies.Report shortages of food, beverages, linen, crockery, cutlery, and operating equipment.Assist in monthly inventory and stock verification.Minimize breakage and wastage.Ensure proper storage of service equipment.9. CoordinationCoordinate effectively with:Kitchen TeamHousekeepingFront OfficeBanquet OperationsEngineeringStores & PurchaseEnsure timely food delivery and smooth service flow.10.
