General Duty Assisstant

Job Summary:

As a General Duty Assistant (GDA) in Home Care Services, you will play a crucial role in supporting individuals in their homes to maintain independence and quality of life. You will provide a range of essential services aimed at assisting clients with daily activities and ensuring their well-being. This position requires compassion, reliability, and the ability to work independently while adhering to established care plans.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Personal Care:

 Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting.

 Support clients with mobility, including transferring to and from beds, chairs, or wheelchairs.

 Provide assistance with medication reminders and basic medical tasks under the direction of healthcare professionals.

2. Companionship and Emotional Support:

 Engage clients in meaningful conversations and activities to promote social interaction and mental stimulation.

 Provide emotional support and companionship, offering encouragement and a listening ear.

 Accompany clients to appointments, outings, or recreational activities as requested.

3. Observation and Reporting:

 Monitor and record changes in client condition, behavior, or vital signs, and report any concerns to the appropriate healthcare professionals or family members.

 Document services provided and any notable observations in client care logs or electronic records.

Communication and Collaboration:

 Maintain open and effective communication with clients, their families, and other members of the care team.

 Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including nurses, therapists, and social workers, to ensure coordinated care delivery.

 Follow care plans and instructions provided by supervisors, adapting as necessary to meet the evolving needs of clients.

Qualifications and Skills:

 High school diploma or equivalent qualification.

 Previous experience in home care, caregiving, or a related field is preferred.

 Compassionate and empathetic approach to caregiving, with a genuine desire to help others.

 Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

 Ability to work independently and responsibly, demonstrating reliability and trustworthiness.

 Basic knowledge of personal care techniques, infection control practices, and safety precautions.

 Willingness to undergo background checks and any required training or certifications.
