Electrical Technician

Job Title: Industrial Electrical Technician*

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Industrial Electrical Technician to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems, machinery, and control equipment within our industrial/manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with high-voltage systems, industrial controls, and a strong commitment to workplace safety.

Key Responsibilities

- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems for industrial machinery, motors, generators, and production equipment

- Troubleshoot and diagnose issues in PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives), and automated control systems

- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on electrical equipment to minimize unplanned downtime

- Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and P&ID diagrams

- Work with low, medium, and high-voltage systems (specify voltage range if known)

- Install and maintain motor control centers (MCCs), switchgear, transformers, and distribution panels

- Perform electrical testing using multimeters, megohmmeters, oscilloscopes, and thermal imaging equipment

- Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA 70E, OSHA, and other applicable safety codes/standards

- Support lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures during equipment servicing

- Collaborate with mechanical technicians, engineers, and maintenance teams on equipment upgrades or repairs

- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, work orders, and inventory of electrical parts

- Respond to emergency equipment failures, including off-shift/on-call support as needed

Qualifications

- High school diploma or equivalent; technical/vocational degree in Electrical Technology preferred

- Completion of an industrial electrical apprenticeship or equivalent certification

- [1–2+] years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment

- Journeyman electrician license (if required by state/region)

- Strong knowledge of NEC and NFPA 70E arc flash safety standards

- Experience with PLC programming/troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.) is a plus

Skills

- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for complex electrical/mechanical systems

- Ability to read electrical, mechanical, and P&ID schematics

- Familiarity with industrial automation and control systems

- Team-oriented with strong communication skills across departments

Working Conditions

- Manufacturing/plant floor environment; exposure to noise, heat, and moving machinery

- May require rotating shifts, weekend work, or on-call emergency response

- Use of appropriate PPE (arc flash gear, safety glasses, hearing protection) required
