Medical Laboratory Assistant

Position Overview:The Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) plays a crucial role in assisting laboratory professionals in performing laboratory tests and procedures. The MLA will support the laboratory team by preparing samples, maintaining laboratory equipment, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. This role is critical in ensuring accurate and timely processing of patient samples to support diagnosis and treatment.

1. Key Responsibilities:Sample Collection and Handling:

• Collect, label, and prepare patient samples (blood, urine, tissue, etc.) for analysis.
• Ensure proper identification and documentation of patient samples.
• Maintain accurate and organized records of all specimens.

1. Sample Processing:

• Assist in the preparation and processing of samples for analysis (centrifugation, dilution, etc.).
• Sort, log, and deliver specimens to the appropriate testing areas.
• Perform basic tests or procedures under the supervision of a technologist.

1. Equipment Maintenance and Cleaning:

• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including pipettes, centrifuges, and analyzers.
• Regularly clean and disinfect laboratory surfaces, equipment, and instruments.
• Report any malfunctioning equipment to the appropriate personnel.
