Special Education Teacher

Key Responsibilities:

1. Teaching and Curriculum Implementation

Implement the DISHA curriculum and Montessori methods, ensuring individualized learning plans (IEPs) are designed and followed based on each child's needs and abilities. Develop and deliver lessons that foster academic, social, and behavioural development for neurodiverse children. Utilize evidence-based strategies like Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) and sensory integration techniques to enhance learning outcomes

2. Assessment and Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)

Collaborate with parents and psychologists to conduct comprehensive assessments, identifying the specific needs of each child. Develop and monitor IEPs based on VSMS scores, adjusting the teaching approach as needed to support the child’s progress. Ensure that both special needs curriculum and Montessori methods are implemented effectively for each child.

3. Inclusive Classroom Management

Maintain a nurturing, supportive, and inclusive classroom environment with a teacher to-student ratio of 1:8, ensuring individualized attention for each child. Foster positive behaviour through structured routines, consistent reinforcement, and personalized strategies. Monitor and track each child's academic and behavioural progress, making adjustments to teaching strategies as necessary.

4. Collaboration with Parents and Staff

Build strong relationships with parents by providing regular feedback on their child’s progress and discussing strategies to support learning at home. Work closely with behavioural therapists and other staff members to create a cohesive support system for each child. Address parental concerns regarding their child's future, ensuring that they receive comprehensive support throughout their educational journey.

5. Ongoing Professional Development

Stay updated on the latest trends and best practices in special education by attending workshops, conferences, and training programs. Participate in team meetings and contribute to curriculum development that supports BLISS's mission of creating self-sufficient and future-ready children.

6. Administrative Duties

Maintain accurate records of each child’s progress, attendance, IEPs, and behavioral reports. Ensure compliance with BLISS’s policies, educational standards, and relevant legal requirements.
