Speech Therapist

Position Title: Speech Therapist / Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP)

Location: Navy children school

Reports To: Principal / Special Education Coordinator

Job SummaryThe Speech Therapist is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and providing intervention for students with speech, language, communication, voice, fluency, and swallowing difficulties. The therapist works collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other professionals to support students' communication skills and enhance their academic and social participation.

• Key ResponsibilitiesAssessment & EvaluationConduct speech and language screenings and comprehensive assessments.
• Identify communication disorders and developmental delays.
• Prepare detailed assessment reports and recommendations.
• Participate in multidisciplinary evaluations and meetings.
• Therapy & InterventionDevelop individualized therapy goals and intervention plans.
• Provide one-on-one and group speech-language therapy sessions.
• Monitor student progress and modify intervention strategies as needed.
• Support students with articulation, language, fluency, voice, social communication, and AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) needs.
• Collaboration & ConsultationWork closely with teachers to implement communication strategies in the classroom.
• Collaborate with psychologists, occupational therapists, special educators, and counselors.
• Provide guidance and training to teachers and support staff regarding communication needs.
• Conduct parent counseling sessions and provide home-based activities.
• Documentation & ReportingMaintain accurate therapy records, progress notes, and attendance.
• Prepare Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and progress reports.
• Ensure compliance with school policies and professional standards.
• Maintain confidentiality of student information.
• Awareness & Capacity BuildingConduct workshops and awareness programs for parents and staff.
• Promote inclusive practices that support communication development.
• Stay updated with current research and best practices in speech-language therapy.
• QualificationsBachelor's or Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology / Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology.
• Registration with the relevant professional body (where applicable).
• Experience working with children in educational settings preferred.
• Knowledge of developmental disorders, learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, and inclusive education practices.

• Strong documentation and report-writing skills.

• Working HoursSchool working hours with additional time for documentation, parent meetings, and staff consultations as required.
