Machine Operator

We are looking for a skilled Turner Fitter to operate lathe machines and other manual/semi-automatic machine tools, and to fit, assemble, and finish machined components as per drawings and specifications. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in turning, fitting, and precision measurement, with a strong eye for quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate lathe machines (manual/CNC) to turn, bore, thread, and face components as per engineering drawings
• Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work instructions accurately
• Select appropriate tools, cutting speeds, feeds, and depth of cut for different materials
• Fit, assemble, and align machined parts to required tolerances
• Perform filing, drilling, grinding, and finishing operations as needed
• Use precision measuring instruments (vernier caliper, micrometer, dial gauge, height gauge) to check dimensional accuracy
• Identify and report deviations, defects, or machine malfunctions
• Carry out routine maintenance and cleaning of machines and tools
• Maintain production records, quality checklists, and job cards
• Follow safety protocols and use PPE at all times
• Coordinate with quality control and supervisors to ensure output meets standards
• Minimize material wastage and rework

Required Skills & Qualifications

• ITI / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Turner, Fitter, or Machinist trade (or equivalent)
• 2–5 years of hands-on experience as a Turner, Fitter, or Machine Operator (adjust based on seniority)
• Strong knowledge of lathe operations, fitting techniques, and machine tools
• Ability to read engineering drawings and GD&T basics
• Proficiency with precision measuring instruments
• Good understanding of materials (mild steel, alloy steel, aluminum, etc.) and their machining properties
• Physically fit to work on the shop floor, including standing for long hours and lifting components
• Attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety
