Job Title: Store Officer (Engineering & Manufacturing Unit)

The Store Officer is responsible for end-to-end management of the factory stores, ensuring accurate inventory control, timely material availability for production, and strict compliance with inward/outward procedures. This role holds full accountability for store operations across the 12-hour factory cycle.

Key Responsibilities

1. Inventory Management & Control

* Maintain accurate stock records (raw materials, consumables, finished goods if applicable)

* Ensure real-time updating of inward and outward entries in ERP/manual systems

* Monitor minimum, maximum, and reorder levels to avoid stock-outs or overstocking

* Conduct daily physical verification of critical items and periodic full stock audits

* Identify slow-moving, non-moving, and obsolete inventory

1. Material Inward (GRN Process)

* Verify incoming materials against purchase orders and delivery challans

* Check quantity, basic quality, and report discrepancies immediately

* Prepare and update Goods Receipt Notes (GRN)

* Coordinate with QC team (if applicable) for inspection clearance

1. Material Issue to Production

* Issue materials strictly against authorized requisitions

* Ensure FIFO / FEFO (where applicable) is followed

* Track consumption patterns and flag abnormal usage

* Prevent unauthorized material movement

1. Store Organization & Safety

* Maintain clean, organized, and labeled storage areas

* Ensure proper stacking, binning, and identification of materials

* Implement 5S practices in the store

* Follow safety norms for handling engineering materials

1. Documentation & Compliance

* Maintain proper documentation for all transactions (GRN, issue slips, returns)

* Ensure audit readiness at all times

* Support internal and external audits

1. Coordination & Communication

* Work closely with:

  * Purchase team (for shortages and planning)

  * Production team (for daily material requirements)

  * Accounts (for reconciliation and valuation)

* Provide daily stock reports and critical alerts to management

1. Loss Prevention & Accountability

* Take full ownership of stock accuracy and discrepancies

* Investigate and report variances immediately

* Ensure zero pilferage through strict control systems

Working Responsibility (Important for Your Setup)

* Solely responsible for store operations during the assigned 12-hour shift

* Ensure smooth handover (if shift-based system is introduced later)

* Available for urgent coordination in case of material-related production issues

Required Skills & Qualifications

* Experience: 3–7 years in manufacturing/engineering stores

* Strong understanding of inventory control systems

* Basic ERP knowledge (Tally, SAP, or similar) will be beneficial 

* Good numerical accuracy and attention to detail

* Discipline and firmness in enforcing processes (this matters more than politeness)
