About the job

We are looking for a Narrative Cut Video Editor to join our video production team. This role is responsible for taking a long rough multicam assembly, usually around 30–45 minutes, and transforming it into a sharp, engaging, story-driven cut of around 8–15 minutes. The focus of this role is story, pacing, clarity, tension, and viewer retention. This is not a final polish role. The editor will not be responsible for audio balancing, branding, overlays, effects, beeping, blur, color grading, or final export polish. Their main responsibility is to shape the video into a strong narrative before it moves to the polish stage. The candidate must be fluent in English, have strong judgment of story flow, and the ability to understand what parts of a video are important, repetitive, slow, confusing, or emotionally valuable.

Your Role

• Watching the full rough cut and understanding the core conflict of the story.
• Identifying the main tension, key characters, escalation points, and turning points.
• Creating a strong opening where the viewer quickly understands what is happening.
• Removing filler, dead air, repeated dialogue, and unnecessary pauses.
• Preserving important emotional, tense, funny, dramatic, or character-revealing moments.
• Maintaining clear cause-and-effect flow so the viewer never feels confused.
• Using basic narrative editing techniques such as J-cuts, L-cuts, overlapping split edits, time-compression jump cuts, and audio bridges where appropriate.
• Rewatching edited sections to make sure cuts feel natural, not stitched or manipulated.

You Should Have

• Strong English understanding is mandatory.
• Good sense of story pacing, tension, and viewer retention.
• Ability to identify what is important versus what can be removed.
• Comfortable using J-cuts, L-cuts, split edits, jump cuts, and audio bridges.
• Ability to compress long footage without losing clarity or authenticity.

Location
