About you and this role

Dow has an exciting opportunity for an Advisory Developer – SAP ABAP / UI5 / Fiori Full Stack Developer based in Navi Mumbai, India. This role requires strong hands-on development experience, with the successful candidate actively designing, developing, and supporting end-to-end SAP solutions to meet business needs and requirements. This position goes beyond advisory responsibilities and demands direct involvement in solution architecture, development, testing, deployment, and support, while contributing to Dow’s long-term SAP and digital transformation strategy.

Key Responsibilities  

• The Advisory Developer Role requires strong hands-on experience in ABAP development, including active coding using Object-Oriented ABAP and RAP (RESTful ABAP Programming Model).
• The role expects direct involvement in Design, build, test, and support simple to complex SAP development across core business processes ((Record-to-Report, Order-to-Cash, Source-to-Pay, etc.)  
• Participate across the full development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, technical design, development, testing, deployment, and post–go-live support.
• Collaborate with functional and technical teams to map business requirements to standard SAP solutions and design scalable custom solutions for identified gaps.
• Translate high-level business requirements into detailed technical designs, ensuring scalability, performance, and alignment with Dow’s IT strategy and architecture standards.
• Select appropriate integration patterns, understand integration costs, and design solutions aligned with company standards, including preparation of architecture diagrams and detailed technical documentation.
• Perform advanced debugging and performance optimization, resolving complex technical and integration issues.
• Provide accurate development estimates and contribute to delivery planning using Agile and/or Waterfall methodologies.
• Leverage AI-powered developer tools (e.g., code assistants, test automation, documentation generation) to increase development productivity, code quality, and delivery speed.
• Share learnings, best practices, and usage patterns of AI developer tools with the broader development team to drive adoption and continuous improvement.
• Mentor junior developers, reinforcing coding standards, modern ABAP/RAP practices, and effective use of AI tools.
• Stay current with S/4HANA, RAP, and emerging SAP technologies, proactively sharing knowledge with peers and IT leadership.
• Communicate clearly with business and technical stakeholders on status, risks, issues, and outcomes, ensuring transparency and alignment.
• Ensure all solutions meet business requirements, comply with Dow architecture standards, and support long-term system vision and productivity.

Qualifications

• A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Math, Science, Engineering or related discipline.  
• 8+ years of experience working as an SAP ABAP Developer.
• Prior experience with at least 3 full lifecycle SAP implementation projects.
• Ability to work on multiple assignments concurrently. ​

Your Skills

• Critical requirement: Strong hands-on Object-Oriented ABAP development experience, including RAP (RESTful ABAP Programming Model).
• Extensive hands-on experience with ABAP technologies such as OData services, Workflow, IDoc, Adobe Forms, Smart Forms, Reports, BADIs, Enhancements, Program Routines, Substitutions, and other SAP enhancement techniques.
• Exposure to newer ABAP technologies such as Web Dynpro, Floorplan Manager, and Business Object development is highly desirable.
• SAP UI5 / Fiori development experience is a strong advantage, particularly for building modern, user-centric SAP applications and extensions.
• S/4HANA experience, with the ability to guide and coach teams in preparation for S/4HANA transformation and upgrade initiatives.
• Exposure to SAP PI/PO, SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP), and API Management (APIM) is preferred. Drive business‑aligned, cost‑effective technology solutions through strong leadership, collaboration, problem‑solving, and innovative execution.
