JOB SUMMARY
Join J.P. Morgan’s Global Research Center (GRC) in Mumbai as an Economics Research Analyst. In this role, you will support our global economics research platform, analyzing macroeconomic and financial market trends across frontier and emerging markets. You will leverage advanced quantitative and econometric techniques, manage large datasets, and contribute to high-impact research publications for internal and external clients.

J.P. Morgan’s Global Research Center (GRC) was set up in Mumbai in August 2003 as an extension of the firm’s global equity research teams around the world. GRC has grown steadily, and the team of analysts has expanded to provide coverage for the key sectors globally.
The Commercial & Investment Bank Research & Analytics is an integrated specialist team covering Origination (Banking and Markets), Products (Securities Services and Treasury Services), Research, Data Analytics and Strategy globally. We help global corporations, institutions and organizations of all sizes grow their businesses by providing cutting edge analytics and solutions. Job Responsibilities
Research and Analysis
- Analyze macroeconomic, financial, and policy drivers of various economies, with a focus on emerging and frontier markets
- Develop, maintain, and enhance econometric and quantitative models for forecasting, scenario analysis, and policy evaluation
- Manage, clean, and analyze large and complex datasets using tools such as Eviews and Python to manipulate and analyze macroeconomic data, producing charts, tables, and publications
- Find, read, and summarize information such as news articles, academic research, and data documentation
- Contribute to the automation and improvement of research processes, ensuring data integrity and reproducibility
Storyboarding and Communication
- Prepare Excel charts, Word documents, and PowerPoint presentations for publications and meetings
- Regularly contribute to research publications, including market commentary, deep-dive reports, and thematic studies
- Present research findings in a clear and compelling manner, both in writing and verbally, to internal stakeholders and external clients
- Compile chart books, templates, and data visualizations for weekly, monthly, and ad hoc publications
- Communicate and interact regularly with the team in Asia and other global teams
Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with global research teams, strategists, and economists to formulate forecasts, views, and actionable insights
- Support the organization of investor events, webinars, and conferences
- Maintain relationships with external and internal stakeholders
- Ability to contribute to writing research publications and responding to client questions
Market Intelligence
- Stay up to date with global macroeconomic developments, regulatory changes, and market events relevant to covered economies
- Monitor and synthesize market news, academic research, and data documentation to inform research and forecasts
Essential Skills
- Understanding of basic macroeconomics and statistical techniques such as multiple regression analysis
- Coding skills necessary to manipulate data and perform statistical analysis using tools like Eviews, Python, and VBA
- Reading comprehension to gather and summarize articles and information on economic topics
- Communication skills to describe research and forecasts verbally and in writing
- Strong quantitative and econometric skills, with proven ability to analyze macro data and develop models (e.g., time-series analysis, panel data, forecasting techniques)
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills, attention to detail, and a problem-solving mindset
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Intellectual curiosity, adaptability, and a strong work ethic
Desirable Skills
- Experience with advanced econometric, statistical, machine learning, and natural language processing techniques
- Familiarity with financial market data sources (e.g., Bloomberg, Haver, CEIC, etc.) and market conventions
- Exposure to regulatory frameworks and policy analysis
- Experience organizing or supporting investor events and maintaining external relationships
- Additional language skills relevant to covered regions are a plus
Qualifications
- Master’s degree or above in Economics, Finance, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field from reputed institutions
- 2+ years of experience in economic research, macro policy analysis, financial markets, or a similar quantitative/analytical role (sell-side, buy-side, central bank, or international organizations preferred)
