About the Role
This role sits in the Institutional Division Conduct and Compliance Centre of Expertise (COE) and is focused on embedding best practice in Conduct and Regulatory risk management across ANZ India including India GIFT (not Group Capability Centre).
This role drives the first line of defence and engages with the Institutional frontline, Enterprise Risk Theme experts and NFR teams managing value chain and country risk profiles. It assures effective Conduct and Regulatory risk management with a lens of the end-to-end customer journey, risk and control environment.
This role leads top-down risk identification, assessments, regulatory or policy change implementation, escalates gaps where controls or frameworks are not effective, and partners with business teams to sustainably design and embed Conduct and Compliance risk management and controls.

What will your day look like?
- Interpret and apply Group Risk policies, standards, and regulatory obligations regarding Conduct and Compliance for the India / India GIFT risk exposure
- Support and deliver impact assessments and implementation activities for regulatory, policy or risk standard changes
- Co-ordinate Regulatory Change execution in India and India GIFT. Own local change governance and support Institutional oversight.
- Inform inherent and residual assessments for Conduct and Regulatory risks across Institutional value chains and countries.
- Follow established methodologies to create thematic reviews of Conduct and Regulatory risk exposure, identifying control gaps, weaknesses, or emerging risks and support the development of remediation actions with the business.
- Partner with business teams to design, uplift, and embed effective controls aligned to enterprise frameworks.
- Prepare governance materials to support India / India GIFT visibility of risk and compliance posture, informing decision-making.
- Escalate material risk issues, control failures, or non-compliance matters to the Director, Conduct & Compliance Risk COE in line with escalation protocols.
- Support risk culture uplift for Conduct and Compliance risk management by translating requirements into business language and applying to specific Institutional business context. Support understanding and execution of risk management responsibilities.
What will you bring?
To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

- Good working knowledge of risk management frameworks
- Ability to apply risk frameworks within defined business contexts and make sound decisions within established guidelines.
- Demonstrated ability to translate data and insights into meaningful relevance for business stakeholders.
- Understanding of controls design, assurance and testing.
- Exposure to regulatory change implementation, risk remediation activities or assurance findings management.
- Ability to interpret complex regulatory requirements and translate them into practical business solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders and drive cross-functional collaboration to embed Line 1 risk ownership.
‘Good to have’ knowledge, skills and experiences
- Familiarity with the ORX NFR Taxonomy, ANZ’s enterprise risk management frameworks, and Conduct & Compliance risk standards.
- Awareness of adjacent risk disciplines including financial crime risk, resilience risk and operational risk themes.
- Experience working within or supporting a Centre of Expertise or similar risk capability uplift model.
- Understanding of the Institutional Banking operating environment, products, and customer journeys.
- Exposure to end-to-end credit processes across different segments
Qualifications
- Tertiary qualifications in business, law, risk or related fields.
- Professional certifications in conduct risk, compliance risk or data analytics are highly regarded.
- Demonstrated commitment to continuous professional development in risk, analytics, or regulatory affairs.
