IT Transformation & Strategy Head (Chief of Staff – Technology)

Role Overview
A strategic leadership role driving enterprise-wide IT transformation and cross-functional technology alignment across Consumer Banking, Corporate Banking, and Digital channels. The incumbent will function as the CTO's strategic right hand — orchestrating large-scale programs, enabling board-level governance, and ensuring business value delivery across multiple, diverse technology verticals (infrastructure, applications, data, digital, cybersecurity, enterprise platforms). This role demands the ability to influence without authority and deliver outcomes by stitching together solutions from varied technology domains and teams.
Key Responsibilities
IT Strategy & Transformation
•
Define and drive the Bank's multi-year technology transformation roadmap aligned with business growth, digital-first priorities, and regulatory mandates.
•
Lead large-scale transformation programs — core banking modernization, cloud migration, automation, and platform re-architecture — from strategy through execution.
Cross-Domain Technology Orchestration
•
Operate as the central integration point across diverse technology units — Applications, Infrastructure, Data Engineering, Digital Platforms, Information Security, Enterprise Architecture, and DevOps — ensuring cohesive delivery against business priorities.
•
Break silos across technology verticals to drive unified solution delivery for Consumer Banking, Corporate Banking, and Digital Distribution.
•
Translate business needs into actionable technology programs by engaging and aligning multiple technology teams with distinct ownership models.
Board & Executive Engagement
•
Prepare and present technology strategy, transformation progress, and risk narratives to the Board, IT Strategy Committee, and CXO forums.
•
Synthesize complex, multi-domain technology updates into executive-ready communication.
Vendor & Transition Management
•
Oversee strategic vendor relationships, contract governance, and partner ecosystem management.

Lead vendor transitions, platform migrations, and system consolidation programs ensuring business continuity.
Regulatory, Audit & Controls
•
Ensure transformation programs comply with RBI, SEBI, and BFSI regulatory frameworks including IT Governance Master Directions.
•
Collaborate with Audit, Risk, and Compliance teams to maintain control readiness and governance adherence.
Influence-Led Leadership
•
Drive alignment and delivery across business and technology stakeholders without direct line authority — through stakeholder management, executive presence, and strategic persuasion.
Candidate Profile Criteria Requirement Experience
20+ years in technology leadership within BFSI Industry
Mandatory experience in both Indian and Foreign/MNC banks Seniority
CTO / CIO -1 (direct report) for minimum 5 years Domain
Consumer Banking, Corporate Banking, Digital Strategy Diverse Tech Exposure
Must have led or coordinated delivery across multiple technology units — Applications, Infrastructure, Data, Digital, Security, Enterprise Platforms — not limited to a single tech silo Transformation
Proven track record of leading large-scale IT transformation programs Board Exposure
Experience presenting to Board / ITSC / Regulatory forums Regulatory
Deep understanding of RBI IT governance and BFSI regulatory frameworks Vendor Management
Managed strategic vendor partnerships, transitions, and multi-vendor programs Audit & Controls
Hands-on exposure to IT audits and control functions Business-Facing

Preferred Qualifications
•
B.E./B.Tech + MBA or equivalent from a reputed institution
•
Certifications in PMP, TOGAF, ITIL, or Digital Transformation (preferred, not mandatory)
•
Experience in setting up or leading a CTO Office, PMO, or Strategy function within a large bank
