Regional Health and Safety Manager - India, Data Center Health and Safety

Key job responsibilities
• Managing and developing a team of Health and Safety Managers, providing both technical and leadership expertise and ensuring the highest levels of performance.
• Recruit talent for the Asia Pacific, Japan and China (APJC) region.
• Create a positive partnership with regional operations Leadership and serve as point of contact and escalation for safety related matters.
• Work with partners such as legal and program teams to ensure compliance to Safety programs such as Lockout Tagout, Fall Protection, Fire Prevention, Emergency Procedures and Evacuation and other such programs for each Data Center.
• Lead a team to ensure compliance with company, global, regional and/or local Health and Safety standards.
• Support new region and inter region launch including site inspections, identifying accountability and site readiness review.
• Perform safety data analysis and create bench marking.
• Ensure proper record keeping and provide accurate reporting and metrics to support business safety initiatives.
• Support your team to develop and implement solutions to eliminate exposure to risks and prevent injury.
• Act as the representative for Government Visits and address any issues that may arise on a site level for the region.
• Adapt to fast-paced environments with changing circumstances, direction, strategy and deadlines.
• Support to identify and implement initiatives to reduce Health and Safety risks and improve team efficiency.

About the team
Join the world class safety culture at Amazon Web Services (AWS) and be part of supporting the largest cloud computing infrastructure team as a Regional Safety Manager. As the Regional Health and Safety Manager, you will own the Health and Safety function of your respective area as well as supervise a team of Health and Safety Managers responsible for daily safety functions.

You will be responsible for improving the health and safety of our data centers, advancing safety culture, and protecting our employees. Each day you will work with our data center engineers, the people who make the cloud run. You will work closely with experts in security, construction, operations, logistics, compliance, corporate counsel, and human resources to further the global health safety program. You will partner with employees as well as contractors to achieve health and safety goals and improve our already strong safety culture. You will work in a fast-paced environment where our operations are rapidly changing, advocating safe changes in the face of new infrastructure, new tools, and new products/processes.

This role is for a qualified and experienced Regional Health and Safety Manager. The primary responsibilities of the role are to support the safety operations for Data Centers in the India Region. You will have managed a team of at least 5 individuals, over a period of at least 3 years. You will be able to demonstrate how you continued to improve performance of an existing team along with displaying skills in creating or growing a team of health and safety professionals. The candidate will also be knowledgeable in safety regulations in India as well as industry best practices related to hazard recognition and mitigation.

Basic Qualifications


- 7+ years of increasingly responsible roles in safety and/or environmental programs within manufacturing, production, service operations, or other relevant experience
- Bachelor's degree in Health and Safety or a related field
- Minimum college/university degree in a safety and health field or experience equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience working in a fast-paced, rapidly changing operations environment
- Experience communicating clearly and concisely with leadership, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams
- Experience developing and implementing department goals and strategies based on broader organizational goals
- Experience in English-language communication skills, both written and verbal
- Construction, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, or similar industry safety experience with mix of full time employees and third-party contractors.
- Experience designing and implementing safety policy, processes and procedural documentation.
- Business written and verbal communications in Marathi or Hindi.
- Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem solving ability.
- Exhibit excellent problem solving skills and attention to detail.
- Able to manage up and escalate issues or concerns when required
- High ethical standards with proven ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive information; excellent judgment, discretion and diplomacy.
