Role Description

• Within Deutsche Bank’s Risk division, Model Risk Management (MoRM) works globally with all business and infrastructure divisions. MoRM is responsible for independent model validation across all risk types, the measurement and reporting of model risk across Deutsche Bank and ensuring strong model risk governance.
• This task offers an excellent opportunity for candidates who have analytical and mathematical bent of mind and look for opportunities to apply their skills in area of finance and risk management.
• In this role an individual gets an opportunity to explore and enhance their skills in area of mathematical models and implementation methods used to assess bank wide risks arising out of models used for treasury.
• As the person grows in this role, in addition to the model validation for various products, exposure to additional aspects of risk management associated market and liquidity risks inherent to asset & liability management comes along.
• The role further involves the provision of modelling guidance to key model stakeholders including: Front Office Quants, Risk Methodology and Risk Managers.

Your key responsibilities

• The focus lies on high complexity processes - requiring detailed interpretation & judgement calls to be taken as well as deep subject-matter/technical expertise. The candidate needs to lead detailed discussions, build relationships within Treasury / Risk and communicate across all levels of the organization (incl. senior management).
• Task: Complex analysis, evaluation & decision-making
• Review and analyze models used to assess the impact of interest rate movements to the Bank’s earnings and capital.
• Understand mathematical models used, as well as products traded in the financial markets and the associated risks that are inherent from trading these products.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Data processing: Collecting complex information and processing it ready for decision-making.
• Documentation of models and associated products.
• Improvement: Development of complex methods, processes or analyses as well as improvements
• Identifying opportunities to make existing processes & projects more efficient by developing tools for automation.
• Theoretical analysis and review is required.
• Management of large-scale (partial) projects (cross-divisionally/on an international scale) in line with the assigned tasks
• Contribute to forming the basis of discussion with key model stakeholders including Front Office Quants, Risk Methodology and Risk Managers depending on the outcome of your review and analysis.
• Relationship management
• Build relationships with Risk colleagues globally.
• Relationship with stakeholders and business associates, internal & external.
• Support for dealing with internal and external audit requests.
• Dealing with very critical issues and escalation.

Your skills and experience

• Knowledge key methodologies for balance sheet modelling, including modelling of non-maturing deposits and loans/mortgages/.  
• Understanding of pricing models for fixed income products; including both the mathematical models and corresponding implementation methods
• Knowledge in the field of financial mathematics, with an understanding of Statistics.
• Excellent communication skills (both written and oral English), including an ability to explain mathematical concepts and results to various stakeholders in layman’s terms
• Great attention to detail, ability to ensure high quality & consistency of reports produced
• Flexibility and ability to adapt changing processes
