Mainframe Software Engineer Specialist

Specialist - Software Engineering

Design code and maintain mainframe applications using languages like COBOL JCL Natural and SQL

Analyse user and business requirements and translate them into technical specifications and designs

Mentor junior developers and conduct training sessions to enhance team skills and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices

Maintain and optimize existing applications monitor performance and implement improvements to ensure scalability and efficiency

Work with crossfunctional teams including business analysts testers and other developers to deliver highquality software solutions

Prepare and maintain technical documentation including design documents user manuals and support materials

Provide support for production issues including root cause analysis and implementing fixes sometimes requiring oncall rotation

Conduct code reviews to ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices

Indepth knowledge of API design principles RESTful APIs POSTMAN SOAP UI and relevant technologies

Required qualifications

Education Bachelors degree in computer science Information Technology or a related field is often required

Technical skills

oProficiency in mainframe technologies COBOL JCL DB2 CICS VSAM and zOS

oExperience with job scheduling tools eg ControlM CA7 and version control systems eg Endevor Changeman along with Service Now and SDLC Agile methodology

Excellent problemsolving analytical communication and teamwork skills

Proven leadership and team management capabilities including delegation and mentoring

Experience with handling PMO activities
