Job Description
The Industrial Automation – Rockwell Technical Lead (Grade 5B) is a senior technical authority responsible for architecting, leading, and governing large scale Rockwell Automation–based industrial automation, MES, and IIoT solutions. This role involves end to end technical ownership across multiple projects, deep expertise in Rockwell platforms, and strategic contribution to connected factory and Industry 4.0 transformation initiatives. The individual will act as a solution thought leader, mentor senior teams, and partner closely with architects, customers, and leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Architecture & Technical Governance
Define and own end to end automation and MES architecture using Rockwell Automation platforms.
Establish technical standards, reference architectures, and best practices for Rockwell based deployments.
Review and govern solution designs, automation strategies, and system integrations across programs.
Drive scalability, cybersecurity, high availability, and performance across OT and IT architectures.
Rockwell Automation Leadership
Lead solution design and advanced implementation using Rockwell Automation technologies, including: 
Allen Bradley PLCs (ControlLogix, CompactLogix)
Studio 5000
FactoryTalk View SE/ME
FactoryTalk Historian, AssetCentre, Batch, and PlantPAx
Provide technical leadership for complex PLC/SCADA/MES implementations.
Lead modernization and migration programs from legacy automation systems to Rockwell platforms.
MES, IIoT & Integration
Architect MES solutions integrating Rockwell automation with enterprise MES, ERP, and cloud platforms.
Design connectivity using OPC UA, Ethernet/IP, MQTT, REST APIs, and industrial networking standards.
Enable IIoT architectures integrating Rockwell systems with cloud IoT platforms (Azure / AWS).
Align automation and MES solutions with ISA 95 / ISA 88 standards.
Delivery, Quality & Risk Management
Lead technical delivery across multiple projects or large programs.
Handle complex technical escalations, root cause analysis, and risk mitigation.
Ensure adherence to quality standards, validation requirements, and compliance guidelines.
Drive DevOps and automation lifecycle management practices for OT systems.
Stakeholder Engagement & Mentoring
Act as the primary technical advisor for customers, business leaders, and program stakeholders.
Mentor Technical Leads (5A), Senior Engineers, and Engineers across Rockwell and MES technologies.
Support pre sales activities including solutioning, estimations, proposals, and technical presentations.
Mandatory Skills
Core Rockwell Automation Expertise
Deep, hands on expertise in Rockwell Automation ecosystems.
Extensive experience with Allen Bradley PLCs, Studio 5000, FactoryTalk suite.
Strong knowledge of PlantPAx architecture and process automation systems.
Advanced understanding of industrial control systems design and commissioning.
MES & Industrial Integration
Strong background in MES implementation and integration.
Expertise in OPC UA, Ethernet/IP, Modbus, MQTT, and industrial networks.
Experience integrating automation with ERP (SAP/Oracle) and enterprise applications.
Cloud, IoT & Security
Experience with Industrial IoT architectures and edge to cloud integration.
Knowledge of OT/IT cybersecurity standards and best practices.
