Assistant Manager - Mechanical

Responsibilities

The Assistant Manager - Mechanical is responsible for overseeing and managing mechanical engineering operations at the Copper Manufacturing Complex. Key responsibilities include:

  • Mechanical Equipment Maintenance and Reliability: Develop, implement, and monitor maintenance schedules for all critical mechanical equipment including crushers, conveyors, pumps, motors, compressors, and heat exchangers to ensure maximum operational efficiency and uptime.
  • Preventive and Predictive Maintenance: Lead the execution of preventive and predictive maintenance strategies using condition monitoring tools and techniques like vibration analysis, thermography, and lubrication analysis to reduce breakdowns and extend equipment life.
  • Root Cause Analysis and Problem Solving: Investigate mechanical failures or inefficiencies by conducting detailed root cause analysis and implementing corrective and preventive actions to avoid recurrence.
  • Project Execution and Mechanical Upgrades: Support and coordinate mechanical aspects of capital projects, including equipment installation, commissioning, and upgrades to improve process efficiency, safety, and reliability.
  • Safety Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure all mechanical work complies with Adani’s stringent safety protocols and industry standards. Proactively identify and mitigate mechanical risks and hazards in coordination with the HSE team.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Supervise and mentor a team of mechanical technicians and engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning, accountability, and high performance.
  • Cost Control and Resource Optimization: Manage mechanical maintenance budgets, control spare parts inventory, and optimize resource allocation to achieve cost-effective operations without compromising quality or safety.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and comprehensive maintenance records, prepare performance reports, and communicate key metrics and insights to senior management.
  • Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with production, electrical, procurement, and quality teams to synchronize activities, resolve issues swiftly, and support overall plant productivity and sustainability goals.
  • Innovation and Continuous Improvement: Encourage and implement mechanical process improvements and technological innovations that align with Adani’s vision of operational excellence and environmental stewardship.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Full time) from a recognized university
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience in mechanical maintenance, operations, or engineering within the metal manufacturing or heavy industrial sector.
  • Mechanical Equipment Maintenance Expertise
  • Root Cause Analysis and Problem Solving
  • Safety and Compliance Orientation
  • Proficiency in maintenance management systems and mechanical asset management.
  • In-depth knowledge of mechanical equipment used in copper manufacturing such as crushers, conveyors, pumps, and heat exchangers.
  • Familiarity with condition monitoring techniques like vibration analysis and thermography.
  • Understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Strong grasp of mechanical engineering standards, codes, and safety regulations.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, P&IDs, and engineering documents.
