Job Purpose: The Site Safety Engineer is responsible for cultivating a robust safety culture and enhancing the Safety Management System within project areas of solar manufacturing facilities. They conduct thorough EHS inspections and audits, identify environmental aspects and impacts, and ensure strict adherence to legal requirements and internal guidelines. Their role focuses on proactively managing safety initiatives to create a secure and compliant work environment, minimizing risks and promoting continuous improvement in safety standards.
1. Material Receiving and Inspection
- Receive incoming materials and supplies, verify quantities against purchase orders and delivery documents.
- Inspect materials for quality, specifications, and physical damage upon receipt.
- Document all receipts, shortages, damages, and discrepancies.
- Coordinate with the Procurement team to resolve supplier-related issues promptly.
2. Inventory Storage and Organization
- Store materials in designated warehouse locations as per defined storage norms.
- Ensure proper identification, labeling, and segregation of materials.
- Maintain warehouse cleanliness, safety, and orderliness to prevent damage, loss, or contamination.
3. Material Issuance and Tracking
- Issue materials to production and other departments against authorized requisitions.
- Ensure accurate documentation of all material issues, returns, and transfers.
- Update inventory systems in real time to reflect material movement.
4. Inventory Accuracy and Control
- Conduct regular cycle counts and periodic physical inventory verification.
- Identify and report inventory discrepancies such as shortages, excess, or obsolescence.
5. Safety, Health & Compliance
- Comply with all safety guidelines while handling and storing materials.
- Always Use prescribed Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Ensure hazardous, flammable, or sensitive materials are stored and handled as per statutory regulations and company policies.
6. Communication and Coordination
- Coordinate effectively with Production, Procurement, Logistics, Quality, and Maintenance teams to ensure timely material availability.
- Provide regular updates to the Head – Stores on inventory levels, shortages, slow-moving stock, and risks.
- Support logistics coordination for inbound and outbound material movements.
7. Documentation and Record-Keeping
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of receipts, issues, returns, adjustments, and stock balances.
- Support preparation of inventory MIS reports, audit documentation, and compliance records.
- Ensure traceability of materials as required by quality and audit standards.
8. Quality Control
- Ensure materials issued meet required quality standards and specifications.
- Identify non-conforming materials and escalate quality issues to the Head – Stores and Quality Control team for corrective action.
9. Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities for improving warehouse layout, storage methods, and inventory management processes.
- Participate in training programs and continuous improvement initiatives related to stores and supply chain functions.

- Uphold the organization’s values by conducting all inventory and material management activities with integrity, transparency, and accountability.

Qualifications & Skills
Educational Background:
Diploma or bachelor’s degree in store management (DSM).
Work Experience:
5+ years of experience in inventory management or warehouse operations within a manufacturing or industrial project.
Industry Knowledge:
Understanding of inventory control procedures, material receiving and inspection processes, warehouse organization and safety standards, documentation and record-keeping for inventory management, and basic knowledge of inventory management software.
