Plant Head - Sulphuric Acid & ETP

Responsibilities

SAP & ETP Operations Management

• Lead end-to-end operations of Sulphuric Acid Plant and ETP. 
• Ensure achievement of production and treatment targets. 
• Maintain stable and efficient operation of: 
  • Gas Cleaning Plant
  • Contact Section
  • Acid Absorption Section
  • Acid Storage & Dispatch Systems
  • ETP, Neutralization & Water Recovery Systems
  • ZLD Systems (where applicable)
• Optimize plant throughput, conversion efficiency, and recovery rates.
• Ensure maximum plant availability and reliability.

Environment Compliance

• Ensure adherence to: 
  • CPCB norms
  • GPCB norms
  • Environmental Clearance conditions
  • Consent to Operate requirements
• Ensure compliance related to: 
  • SO₂ emissions
  • Acid mist emissions
  • Stack monitoring
  • Water discharge standards
  • Hazardous waste handling
• Drive zero environmental non-compliance.

Process Excellence & Optimization

• Improve: 
  • Sulphur burning efficiency
  • SO₂ to SO₃ conversion efficiency
  • Sulphuric acid quality
  • Utility consumption
  • Water recovery
  • Energy efficiency
• Lead process debottlenecking initiatives. 
• Implement Lean, Six Sigma and continuous improvement projects.

Safety & Risk Management

• Champion Process Safety Management (PSM). 
• Ensure compliance with: 
  • SOPs
  • PTW System
  • LOTO
  • HIRA
  • MOC
  • Emergency Response Procedures
• Conduct incident investigations and implement corrective actions. 
• Build a strong safety culture across operations teams.

Maintenance Coordination

• Work closely with Maintenance teams for: 
  • Preventive Maintenance
  • Predictive Maintenance
  • Shutdown Planning
  • Turnaround Management
• Drive improvement in equipment reliability. 
• Reduce unplanned downtime.

Water & Effluent Management

• Ensure efficient operation of: 
  • ETP
  • Recycle Systems
  • Neutralization Systems
  • Sludge Handling Facilities
  • Water Recovery Systems
• Monitor water balance and recycling performance.
• Promote water conservation initiatives.

Team Leadership

• Lead a multidisciplinary team of: 
  • Shift In-Charges
  • Engineers
  • Operators
  • Technicians
  • Contract Workforce
• Develop competency and succession plans. 
• Drive performance and employee engagement.

Budget & Cost Control

• Prepare annual operating budget. 
• Monitor: 
  • Chemical consumption
  • Utility consumption
  • Maintenance expenses
  • Spares inventory
• Drive cost optimization without compromising safety or quality.

Projects & Expansion

• Support: 
  • Capacity enhancement projects
  • Debottlenecking initiatives
  • Environmental improvement projects
  • Technology upgrades
• Participate in commissioning and performance guarantee tests.

Qualifications

Education Qualification: 

B.E./B.Tech in Chemical Engineering

M.Tech Chemical / Environmental Engineering preferred

Experiences:

18–25 years of experience in process industries, focused can be Sulphuric Acid Plant Operations, Gas Cleaning Systems, Environmental Systems, ETP / Wastewater Treatment Operations
