Job Purpose:
The Engineer - Finishing (QA Blade) conducts inspections during the finishing stage of blade manufacturing, focusing on surface quality, dimensional accuracy, and balance. This role monitors finishing parameters, identifies defects, and coordinates corrective actions to maintain high-quality standards. The position supports process improvement initiatives, ensures compliance with finishing standards, and collaborates with finishing operators, providing training and technical guidance to uphold quality and safety protocols.
Monitoring Finishing Parameters
- Monitor finishing parameters such as sanding depth, coating application, and curing conditions to ensure adherence to quality standards.
- Adjust finishing processes as necessary to correct surface defects and achieve desired blade characteristics.
Defect Identification and Correction
- Identify defects such as surface roughness, cracks, and paint inconsistencies during the finishing process.
- Coordinate corrective actions, including re-sanding, repainting, or repairs, to address identified defects.
- Lead the defect reduction projects for the finishing area.
Documentation and Reporting of Inspection Findings
- Maintain detailed records of finishing inspections, including defect logs, corrective actions, and quality checks.
- Prepare inspection reports that provide a comprehensive overview of finishing quality for each blade.
Support for Process Improvement
- Provide feedback on the performance of finishing processes, suggesting changes to reduce defects and improve efficiency.
- Participate in trials of new finishing materials and techniques, assessing their impact on blade surface quality.
Compliance with Blade Finishing Standards
- Ensure all finishing activities comply with relevant standards such as ISO 9001 and internal specifications for blade surface quality.
- Stay informed about advancements in finishing technologies and incorporate best practices into the inspection process.
Team Coordination and Training
- Work closely with finishing operators to ensure quality standards are clearly communicated and consistently applied.
- Assist in training finishing personnel on quality inspection techniques and standards compliance.
Safety and Process Adherence
- Follow all safety protocols during inspections, including the use of PPE and safe handling of finishing equipment.
- Ensure that all finishing activities adhere to standard operating procedures and quality guidelines.

Educational Background:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or Materials Science.
Work Experience:
- 6+ years of experience in quality assurance for finishing processes in blade or composite manufacturing.
Industry Knowledge:
- Knowledge of finishing inspection methods, surface quality standards, and corrective action procedures.
