Job Purpose:

The Engineer NDT (QA Blade) is responsible for executing non-destructive testing (NDT) on blade components to detect internal defects such as delamination's, voids, and cracks. This role ensures the calibration and maintenance of NDT equipment, analyzes inspection results, supports corrective actions, and conducts re-inspections. The position collaborates with QA and production teams, adheres to NDT standards, and provides training to enhance team skills and maintain compliance with safety and quality protocols.

Execution of NDT for Blade Components

  • Conduct non-destructive testing (NDT) on blade components, including ultrasonic testing (UT), thermographic inspection, and shearography, to detect internal defects.
  • Analyze NDT results to identify delamination's, voids, cracks, and other anomalies that could affect blade performance.

Calibration and Maintenance of NDT Equipment

  • Ensure all NDT equipment, including ultrasonic probes and thermal cameras, are properly calibrated and maintained according to industry standards.
  • Conduct regular equipment checks to verify functionality and accuracy of measurements.

Reporting of NDT Findings

  • Maintain detailed records of all NDT inspections, including test results, defect locations, and corrective action recommendations.
  • Prepare reports that summarize findings and provide insights into the quality of blade components.

Support Corrective Actions and Re-Inspection

  • Assist in implementing corrective actions for defects detected during NDT, such as repairs or rework of blade components.
  • Conduct re-inspections to verify the effectiveness of corrective measures and ensure compliance with quality standards.

Compliance with NDT Standards

  • Ensure all NDT activities comply with relevant standards, including ISO 9712 (Qualification of NDT Personnel) and internal blade manufacturing specifications.
  • Stay updated on advancements in NDT technology and best practices to continuously improve inspection processes.

Training and Development Support

  • Assist in training new NDT inspectors on the correct use of equipment and interpretation of test results.
  • Participate in continuous learning to enhance NDT skills and stay updated on emerging technologies in blade QA.

Collaboration with QA and Production Teams

  • Work closely with QA engineers and production teams to address quality issues identified during NDT inspections.
  • Provide technical support for troubleshooting and resolving complex quality challenges in blade manufacturing.

Safety and Operational Compliance

  • Follow all safety protocols during NDT inspections, including the use of PPE and safe operation of NDT equipment.
  • Ensure that all NDT tasks are performed in compliance with safety regulations and quality standards.

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Materials Science, or related field.

Work Experience:

  • 6+ years of experience in NDT for blade manufacturing or similar industries.

Industry Knowledge:

  • Expertise in NDT techniques, defect analysis, and compliance with NDT standards.
